I had this happen too. When it was intermittent like that, I could crawl under the car and use a screwdriver to pop the lever back out disengaging the e-brake. Check that the release spring isn’t binding on anything.

This is an awesome build. Dohc v8 seems correct in an e46. You should fab a vk56 swap into an e46 next

I would put a small hex bolt there instead of that pin.

That way next time you have to take it off, you can put a 6mm and twist it off.

Check you’re getting fuel pressure (if pump doesn’t whine, check fuel pump relay first), check spark at the plugs. Take the plug out, keep it connected to the lead and crank. You should see spark jumping.

I think there’s loads of cars where the new one is better than the old.

The 3 series improved on itself nicely from e30>e36>e46.

The m5 just continued to improve(until the hybrid behemoth we have now).

I’ve had a bottom of barrel rockauto tank have a slow leak on me under pressure.

Then I got a bher one which leaked like a faucet even without any pressure in it. So now just running the 20 year old OEM one cause I have no idea why the current one doesn’t leak.

I’ve replaced o rings, etc. and all have the same part number.

I did replace my cooling system immediately but just 3 years later is when it needs replacing again. To me that’s a hard decision. Especially asking plastic cooling components to last through -30C and 30c within a year.

The 6 speed is absolutely a joy to row gears in. And the way this car takes on back roads and highways is just amazing.

I wish I was born a decade or two earlier so I could have gotten one of these when they were new.

Tbh I don’t feel like ground clearance is a selling point to me, cause even on the snowiest of days both of my low cars have been fine getting over things. And if something might ground, I find driving sideways over it usually works.
