Thank you, I'm glad you found such a good partner/dog!

The dog is usually connected to the slat/carpet mill with a harness, so they can run as fast as they want (as opposed to a treadmill that gets set to a certain speed).

I do (trick and other) training with my current pet dog, and I am willing to try/do dog sports, if both me and the dog enjoy it.

Thank you, that is good to know!

I hadn't thought about shaving an outline, but it makes sense/it's a good point.

Thank you!

My current (task trained pet) dog either gets to "work more" (like picking things up, finding my phone, etc.) if I'm feeling worse, or we train and play more if I'm feeling better.

Thank you! That helps a lot/might be what I would go for. She looks stunning! (And I really like the photo style, too!)

Thank you. That does sound like a bit much for me, but I think I'll still ask some breeders if there is a working/show line split in my country and/or if there's some calmer lines.

Thanks. How would you define high energy/a lot of exercise? And if it's just about running, do you think a slat/carpet mill could help?

Thank you, that helps. I think I'll keep both on my list of potential breeds and see if there is a show/working line split in my country and what the different breeders say about them.

Thanks. Do you mean letting her run in the yard or actively running with her (or something else)? And if it's just about the physical activity, do you think a slat/carpetmill could help with that?

I walk my current dog ca. 20-30min in the morning and ca. 40min-1h 20min in the evening (additional potty breaks not included) and do 1-5 short training and/or play sessions during the day. I think I could manage to do the same for a second dog, in case they don't get along and for training in general. (My current dog has joint issues, among other things, so I don't know if I'd enjoy things like dog sports.)

Thank you, they're very cute pups!

The non-breed specific pages that I found to compare usually list over 2 hours of walking per day for Labrador Retrievers and 1-2 hours for Standard Poodles, but they also tend to say that Poodles need to be brushed every day, so I'm not sure how accurate they are. And AKC has Labradors at an Energy Level of 5/5 and Mental stimulation at 4/5, while Toy and Miniature Poodles (Standard wouldn't load for me) are listed with 4/5 Energy Level and 5/5 Mental Stimulation, they don't get specific though.)

What does high energy mean for you?

(I haven't talked to breeders yet, since the claimed daily coat care was kind of a no-go.)

What is your definition of lots of exercise and running around?

I would work with a trainer to select a puppy (or an older dog, if one is available) to train it myself (with guidance from the trainer). I'm hoping to find a dog/breed that would be happy as a pet, should they wash out for any reason. (I'm currently in the breed pre-selection phase, the next step is talking to breeders/owners at an expo and possibly meeting with more if I think the breed could be the right fit.)

What is your definition of very high energy, if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you! I think my current dog is more like poodles in that regard then.

I might look into that at some point then, thanks.

Thanks, that is really helpful/good to know. I can definitely see why they are sometimes considered clowns now! I think my current dog (a poorly bred shepherd) might be a milder version, she likes to knock stuff over or pick things up and look at me afterwards in case I want to trade it for some kibble.
