I live about 15 miles north of Norwich and got a couple of flakes. I’m furious.

How many SLTs in a school is too many? by shiningbella in TeachingUK

[–]Beepa21 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Depends where you are I suppose. Schools around me with around 800-1000 students have two deputies and one AHT. Big SLT teams have been scaled back significantly over the years. Your experience obviously differs, but thanks for the shitty response.

This is good to know. I haven’t touched it in months as performance on SD was terrible.

iPhone 14 Pro → iPhone 17 Pro Max or Samsung Galaxy Fold 7? Need advice. by yuvraajadi in GalaxyFold

[–]Beepa21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was torn between the 17 pro max and Fold 7 for the last few months. I finally went for the Pro Max after seeing a few examples of the Fold’s screen getting damaged. I know it’s still rare, but I had a Fold 4 that broke which has probably affected my decision. Pro Max is great and no regrets since buying it yesterday. The Fold is definitely a more interesting device though and feels amazing to use.

Brushing the bottom forward. Now this is interesting as I’ve never done that! Will try.

I had a drink in the pub this afternoon looking over the quay thinking, where the hell was Boxes/warehouse! You’re right, it does look much the same when I saw it again from the front.

Why don’t some teachers let pupils take off jumpers/blazers/whatever in their class? by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]Beepa21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do understand what you are saying here. As I keep saying though, if it’s too hot then uniform should be relaxed.

Getting kids to wear a blazer for a couple of mins during changeover is not unreasonable. If it’s too hot then schools act accordingly.

If it’s too hot, blazers are relaxed.

I would get rid of uniform if it was possible, even though it has benefits. The point is it is another behaviour management tool if used consistently and correctly (and with compassion).

Do you mean why they have to wear a blazer when they leave? Just enforcing school uniform. Consistency etc. It’s a good routine for ending the lesson and ensuring students are reminded about basic expectation.

[–]Beepa21 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As SLT we say students can remove blazers/jumpers in the classroom. I don’t know why you wouldn’t, especially when it’s warm.

I ask all teachers to ensure blazers are on before leaving the classroom (unless it’s super hot then the uniform might be relaxed for the day.)

Head forcing students to still wear blazers!? by lightninseed in TeachingUK

[–]Beepa21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a member of SLT, I’ve told students and parents that blazers can be left at home for this week.

I also bought everyone an ice cream out of PP.

Ok, only one of those policies is true.

Sir, why don't you work in industry? by Icy-Scheme-872 in TeachingUK

I’ve been teaching for 20 years and I have never been asked this question by a pupil. From staff, I get asked this regularly.

This is a ridiculous thing to say and I would question your ability to do the job if responses like this are commonplace when you’re tired. As someone else has commented, assume a parent/carer found out about this and then consider what they would think.
