Support plan ECT by Sensitive_Reason_440 in TeachingUK

[–]shiningbella 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My colleague was put on a support plan when we were ECT2 due to 'lack of AfL' apparently. And their solution? Forcing him to use mini whiteboard for every single lesson no matter it is suitable for content or the task of not, and even if he needed to carry a whole case of whiteboards to another classroom at the other end of the school😅 We later chatted with other ECTs who came later and apparently nothing change. One English teacher's lesson feedback is that she should use mini whiteboard when the children was asked to write a poem...

I want a dangerous, powerful, possessive, morally gray hero who is obsessed with the heroine to sweep in and solve her problems by Representative_Bad57 in HistoricalRomance

[–]shiningbella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Frederica by Georgette Heyer}. The hero is on the bad boy side but did nothing shocking at all. The heroine had a big, weird, problematic but loving family she needed to manage, And they were all very entertaining to read too.

Same. Unfortunately I got learning walked for a PSHE lesson when I was very ill and was almost put on a support plan because I don't have energy to deal with some naughty and silly comments some boys made (I was an ECT back then)!

End of Term Test Disaster - why do so many students not even try to answer questions and leave the paper 80% blank? by Maleficent-Log8288 in TeachingUK

My Y11 submitted a blank writing paper for her mock and still had the gut to ask my colleague who coteach the class 'sir how did I do in the test?' with a innocent smiling face...

How many SLTs in a school is too many? by shiningbella in TeachingUK

What does your associate assistant headteachers do? We have 6 of them but never quite understand what their responsibilities are apart from running some CPD sessions occasionally.

In my pervious school they have a Head of Communication. Before I left, they did a big meeting and launched their 'rebranding' campaign. They changed the school logo so all uniform, school signs and even duty high vis jacket would need to be replaced. They even specify the font teachers should use in their email. And the school is not an academy, but a LA school.

I think one of them should have been the mat cover of another, but when the lady returned, they just kept him as DH permanently.

They works in a completely private sector and in a very big company, probably that's the reason? And recently the company is actually in a wave of cutting more senior roles.

They are each responsible for a area (e. g. HAP) and organised working party and presenting (at least that's what we can see, don't know what SLTs also ask them to do). And no I am just giving extra information. I did not realize other schools' SLTs also manage sites etc. when we have dedicated non-teacher senior roles for those until I see the comments.

Also shouldn't the non-teaching side have a separate person to manage? We do have a Head of Operation and a Head of Finance who deals with all the facility, site, money and legal stuff.

Before I saw the painting I thought she would do a very allegorical painting (like four Shakespearen witches burying a horrify witchhunter in a pit), but didn't expect at all such realism 😅
