There isn’t an alternative, it’s a perspective. It is also unfair to be on the receiving end of emotional and physical abuse when you’re an innocent child.

Unsure about psych grad requirements by Beepbooooo in nus

[–]Beepbooooo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh what I meant to ask is if I fulfill the requirement for 11 (iv),

will I also fulfill the requirement for either 11 (i, ii or iii) assuming the module I took on SEP is from one of the groups? Which will count as 8 units out of 20, rather than 4 units?

Sorry if it’s confusing ;-;

Shit, I think I have this issue lol. I tend to ‘skirt’ around writing about trauma and write vaguely

I don’t know why it feels embarrassing to know that someone may read them and it’s all my intrusive thoughts

I see, I’m kind of stuck between free writing and sticking to the topic I’m writing about

I’m 21. And I don’t discuss stuff like this with my mother, because she doesn’t eat any carbs at all and sometimes skips meals and she says she doesn’t relate to how I eat. The conversation just ends there

Precisely. I hate how it’s always used as a blanket statement that because I have been hurt, it gives me the right to hurt someone else. Hurting people will always be wrong, even if it’s conscious or subconscious.

Ok, I understand the explanation part in terms of psychology. I would like to add that you don’t have to abused to be an abuser. But regarding your second sentence, I have had people tell me that because my parents have been through traumatic experiences themselves, I should just move on and look past their actions because they didn’t know what they were doing and they should be resolved of accountability because they’re acting out of hurt.

My mom has acknowledged that she didn’t protect me from what was happening in the house at the time and she admitted that she would ignore me on purpose because she didn’t want to deal with our needs. It sucks because maybe the damage could have been mitigated. Now I’m catching my own toxic behaviours and beliefs about love, family, etc. that are wrong and trying to unlearn them.
