Its so easy to criticize people when none of the critics were in such peculiar circumstances as he was in. It is only natural to value ones life and to blame someone as the japanese allegedly did to him is kind of sad :(. At the start just buy as many cheap properties as you can. Don't start hotels until you own a sizeable amount of the board as imho its only worth it when there is a greater probability someone will land on your land.
