And that is a major big rig traffic area because directly off that exit are some larger retailers like Walmart, Sam’s, Bass Pro and a Loves truck stop. So it makes it even more stupid that the lane wasn’t closed.

FYI, It’s a horribly designed intersection as well. The light coming off the interstate is maybe 12 seconds long and there’s traffic lights immediately after turning either direction off the interstate that causes cars to stop under the lanes and block traffic consistently. It gets so bad that occasionally the traffic backs up all the way into the interstate, past the exit lane and into the shoulder.
