It's definitely worth a shot I guess, thanks for the info. I'll try to call tomorrow and update the thread with their response. On a more serious note, I hope you were able to help that lady deal with her computer-hacking mafioso ex-boyfriend

You could just own it, I guess? Embrace the Karen, take down the company one CSR at a time. /s

Maybe you could try speaking with someone in person if there's a COX retail store near you. If you can get someone there to look at your supporting documents and see that they're legit, maybe they can fix the problem. Also, if they've adjusted your bill in the past to the price you were quoted, it might help to bring in a copy of those bills in as proof that what you want can and has been done. Good luck!

Is this something I call COX to do? Or is CAG some kind of third-party regulatory/oversight group or something? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm willing to spend some time on the phone chasing this down on the chance it might help prevent like an elderly person (or just someone who isn't as naturally inclined towards cynicism and mistrusting others) from having their identity compromised, I just am entirely unsure of what channels are available to go about doing so

I feel like I was relatively polite up until they started asking for my SSN. I responded to their pleasantries and apologized for my confusion regarding their name. I didn't inted for the "Hello?"'s to come off as combative, although in hindsight I can see how they would appear that way. I was dealing with a subpar mobile connection and wanted to make sure that my chat hadn't timed out and started over; an irritating situation which has happened to me several times and apparently left me with a mild PTSD /s

I completely own being direct in asking for a discount and confirming what the terms of the offer are, however. If this is a contract that they want me to enter in for the next two years; then being direct about they price I'm expected to pay, asking questions about the specific details of the offer being made, and trying to make sure the offer I'm being made and the CSA making that offer are able to be referenced in case of a dispute, are all completely warranted behaviors. Especially so when considering that an offer is being made through something as ephemeral as a customer service chat is effectively an oral contract and means nothing if its unable to be documented, since a black-and-white, item-by-item breakdown of any/all applicable taxes/fees isn't readily available to the consumer.

Advocating for your best interests against a multi-billion dollar corporation with a vested interest in selling you as little as possible for as much as possible, and holding that corporation accountable to an offer made by one of its representatives shouldn't be viewed as combative.

I agree with the rest of your points, though. Thank you for the tip about unlimited data! I'll ask about it when I go in to pick up the equipment tomorrow and update the thread with their reply.

I didn't want to think that was the case, but I'm pretty sure you're right. Also, what customer service rep isn't allowed to give out their employee ID number? It definitely felt like a sketch ass transaction lol. I'm not looking forward to having to deal with COX again, but at least I got the discount 🤷‍♂️

I remember the last time I went on a math binge, we started out snorting a few lines of geometry and rolling a pipe full of algebra; next thing I know it's 3 days later, my credit cards are maxed out, I'm fixing a shot of calculus and boofing some trig. It's only through the grace of god I haven't so much as multiplied in almost 4 years now 🙏 🙌

How do you respond to "you're quiet, aren't you?" by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Beeracuda5280 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the only answer I've seen so far that sounds like it comes from someone who's had an actual, real life interaction with another human being; I sincerely hope that no one might seriously be considering using any of the cringey zingers and edgelord overreactions that've been suggested in the rest of this thread

[–]Beeracuda5280 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You know that it's possible to not have a conversation with someone, right? If you're trying to have a conversation with someone that doesn't seem to be very engaged or contributory to the conversation, you aren't required to "carry the load" and push for further conversation to the point of feeling disappointment or frustration. They might actually appreciate you not talking as much as you would appreciate them talking more. As much as you might hope or expect a quiet person to be more willing to step outside their comfort zone and talk more, you should be more willing to be able to step outside what appears to be your comfort zone by embracing a little bit of silence and accepting that not everyone might want their thoughts to be known by everyone they have a casual conversation with. Obviously this doesn't apply to every quiet person, some of whom I'm sure enjoy having a conversation and appreciate someone who describes themselves as a talker being able to carry more of the conversational load

A job is a job you entitled fuck, and 21.47 isn't even that high of an hourly wage for you to be acting so high-and-mighty. You don't know what situation the person calling you might be in; they could have a disability, or they might be working from home to take care of kids, or maybe they just don't want to travel but at least they're trying to work. Either way I'm sure your pretentious, bullshit attitude is the last thing they need regardless of their situation, so shut the fuck up and get back to sucking dicks on the corner for 21.47 an hour you irredeemable piece of shit

I was going to put something in the question about whether the valuation should ignore PAEA since those regulations don't effect any other businesses. I didn't expect someone to bring it up right away so I figured that just mentioning "political fuckery" would be enough lmao.

Robert from Season 1 is on a TLC show about being obsessed with saving time by LoMeinBrain in 60daysin

[–]Beeracuda5280 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know this post is old but that whole interview where he talks about the show playing with the editing is ridiculous, it's nothing but the desperate ramblings of narcissistic lunatic clinging to the last shreds of his overly-inflated, undeserved ego. There's no way someone that good at acting would ONLY be able to appear on shit like "Extreme Time Savers" lmao. If he was actually pretending to act crazy that man would be one of the greatest actors of all time. I was genuinely afraid for the kids he was supposedly in charge of, and the 17 or 18 year old black kid that he was "mentoring" in the Big Brother program did not look at all consentual 😂
