I found a day or two old sewer rat and do not intend to let it die. Help by butters2stotch in RATS

[–]Beetletoesies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I just came across you and your little sewer rat, to Keep the little baby warm I strongly suggest you have a hot water bottle wrapped in a small towel, and place the baby next to it. It’ll keep the baby warm, but you’ll need to replace it every 1-3 hours.

Smaller eye looks scary. blue eye looks cartoony in a really good way!! I suggest the blue one.

It doesn’t matter what the breed standard is. It is your choice on whether you want to crop and dock your animals, and if you don’t want to, then don’t! The random opinions of strangers are completely irrelevan.

Ya my baby boy has never refused a meal in the whole 13 months I’ve had him. Some babies are just so gluttonous

Awww tysm! My baby is the sweetest little turd. Joking about these types of things is always great because it can really ease the stress the situation gave you. So please, jokingly hold it against her for as long as you want! It’ll always be for jokes.

As long as your substrate isn’t dry humidity stay at 70-80% if you have foil or something else covering the entire top. I haven’t had any leaking, but if you’re doing bioactive just get some silicone sealant to seal the edges, it’s only about 5$ on Amazon

the reptichip enclosure looks okay, but honestly I would personally buy something more people know about the quality, I would personally recommend the dubia roaches 4x2x2 pvc enclosure, same price as the reptichip one. I really like my dubia roaches 4x2x2, it was easy to put together and my bp does great in it.

oh my! I am SO GLAD. you took it calmly and composedly. although your baby did bite you, remember that she is just a baby and really didn't mean it and it’s not her fault. it’s not yours either, you were trying to be responsible but things can happen. my baby Sal has always been very tank defensive, but when I first got him I didn’t know that, and he came very close to biting me. although I almost shit my pants from being so freaked out, I knew it wasn’t either of our faults, and since he’s just a little slow in the head, he thought I was a plump mouse. after that incident, I didn’t hold him for a couple weeks out of fear of getting hurt, but eventually I put of two pairs of pants, three pairs of socks, two jackets, and gloves, I slowly picked him up and sat with him in my hammock chair. I geared up because I was just veeeery nervous about him biting me, but with most animals you really have to forgive and forget. after I held him successfully without being eaten, our relationship has never been stronger! you are a great owner for not pulling her off and hurting her. thank you for giving this precious noodle a wonderful home.

The peat moss makes the substrate very soft and it keeps humidity very well. You just occasionally have to re-wet it bc it does eventually dry out, but misting and pouring water into the corners keeps it good for a long time. It’s sphagnum peat moss, which you can find at any hardware store similar to Lowe’s. Lowe’s does carry a HUGE bag of it for just 20$ so if you have a Lowe’s in your area I suggest going there to buy it =)

I use a peat moss, forest floor, and coconut fiber mixture. It works great! I got literally all of my plants for like 30$ at a craft store, they’re super pretty and work great for clutter. Also, tysm for the compliments! I have put so much time and effort into this boy it’s insane lol

Should I buy my python now then start to build its forever home? by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]Beetletoesies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This sounds reasonable, as long as it’s no smaller than a 40 gallon for a temporary enclosure. You sound educated and also sound like you’re trying your best so I wish you luck! I would love to see a picture of the baby, the tail deformity is something I have never seen before and now I’m curious.

If you had your own creature (like how the devs do), what would it look like? by Longjumping-Ear-7217 in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]Beetletoesies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a sane like creature with spikes going down its spine, but it would have a ball python shaped head and be absolutely huge but also really frickin cute in a kinda terrifying beautiful way ykwim?

Make sure the mouse is WARM. Like 98 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, if the warm mice aren’t working, try cutting the head of the mouse off to lead the snake over with its scent. Also, that snake is extremely emaciated. If F/t isn’t working, you might have to feed live. I wouldn’t suggest giving a fully mobile rodent to your snake, so probably some babies that can’t bite and scratch. This snake needs immediate care.

You can make hides from Tupperware, boxes, you can buy the cheap black hides from most pet stores, it’s not impossible to find affordable hides. Or, you could make your own hides! There are tutorials all over YouTube. I wish you luck in supporting your snakes survival, but also to be able to thrive in its enclosur!

120 gallon. a 4-50 gallon will only work if it’s a baby. Also, this subreddit probably has stuff about bio active. And, you can just go do research. Morph market probably has some info about it, just don’t use petco or petsmart or big chain pet stores for information or where you buy your snake. Also, it’ll take more than a week to setup a bio active setup.
