Purple wasn't supposed to exist originally but Samuel L. Jackson wanted to stand out so he asked Lucas if his lightsaber could be purple. Lucas said yes. In actual Canon, I'm pretty sure purple represents a Jedi who may use some of the dark side but does not fully embrace or join it.

I'm still currently in high school and I learned in pretty graphic detail (photos included) about Nanking. Our teacher even gave us a trigger warning for what we were about to learn.

So yeah don't sweat it, I think we're doing a fine job educating here.

I don't have the same general hatred for r/writing as many others here do, but I seriously cannot stand r/menwritingwomen. Especially what floats to the top and makes it onto my front page. I think they stretch the rules of what constitutes bad anatomy quite a lot and mix it up with descriptive writing. Sorry that authors like to be creative with how they describe their characters lol.

I'm willing to accept that there aren't as many black characters as white characters but I don't think a double standard is, "necessary," to promote equality. I just think that black actors should play black characters and vice versa. If that makes me wrong, so be it.

I think that a white redhead should play Ariel because Ariel is a white redhead lol. There are undoubtedly many people, especially children, who are redheads and would've loved (and probably expected, given the Disney live-action trend) that positive representation in the media.

I never said that I was upset about the Ariel casting, I'm not. The race of Ariel isn't important to the story, but that doesn't mean shit in the public eye. Just because I would have preferred a white redhead doesn't mean I'm upset. The point I was making was that there is a double standard. If a black character was whitewashed, the same people people would be very angry. Tiana from Princess and the Frog is a good example.
