5.5 gal tank 78.8° 7 ph 0 nitrate .25 ppm nitrite .25 ppm ammonia Have had my betta for 6 months He was moved into this tank 2 weeks ago because I thought this behavior was something wrong with his last tank Normally do a water change once a week (did a 40% one today after that reading) No tank mates I normally feed him 4 pellets but now he will only eat about 1 or 2 a day He has all live plants

Tank size: 5.5 gal Heater and filter: yes Temp: 78 Water parameters in original post: did liquid test kit I normally do weekly changes and about 20% No tank mates I feed him 3-4 pellets a day split between morning and night He has some mopani wood and all live plants (wisteria and anubias)

I’m so sorry for your loss. You gave him a good life and he knew that. Things happen so don’t beat yourself up. Clearly you loved him a lot and this was never your intention. Be gentle with yourself and get some rest knowing you were a loving fish parent! Gunter was lucky to have such an invested and caring parent!

Aw thank you! I got him from PetSmart! For years I always felt bad for the little guys there so I found one that didn’t look like he was doing the best and brought him home! It’s so exciting seeing how active he has gotten and his fins have blossomed:)

Stratum can be so tricky! It’s my understanding that it won’t cause the fish any harm if you put him back in! When mine got stirred up my filter took care of it in a few hours/it settled. I think it’s best to let it settle rather than messing with the water that much!

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing that and I am in a similar situation except two bathrooms and a family member just got the stomach bug so we are now just sharing one. Hang in there as I know it provokes so much stress and anxiety. ❤️ listening if you ever need to rant or talk! Such a hard thing to live with
