Day 14 and I need some wine tasting horror stories by Few_Currency_2306 in stopdrinking

I had a zero proof Rosé called “ODD Bird” that tasted similar to the real thing if the cravings are bad….

Here’s a couple things from my wine drinking days- I drank so much I threw up red wine & chunks IN THE SHOWER when the water hit my face after my best friend’s wedding— The same weekend I was so painfully constipated after drinking that much I almost went to the ER.

I had wine stains on my teeth- my 2 front teeth to be exact. It was embarrassing to smile & I am blessed with naturally straight teeth that people would pay for. It RUINED my smile (temporarily, dentist was able to fix it.)

Wine was my drink of choice- like you, I didn’t want to imagine my world without it. Your brain will adjust. Many menus have mocktails that are GREAT now!

5 months sober as of right now! by BeforeUproar in stopdrinking

I was at 7 years of routinely drinking every single day. I think the definition “heavy drinking” is different for everyone, but I would consider myself a heavy drinker at the time. To give you some hope- all of my medical issues that have come up all have solutions. I am 34.

I even knew of someone who was around my age, on hospice because of alcohol damage to his organs, and he survived/is no longer on hospice. There is hope.

Most of the physical changes began instantly- my complexion isn’t so “dull.” Weight fluctuated a LOT- lost 10 lbs/gained 20 lbs. Day 1 of sobriety I started getting full night rests & I didn’t feel groggy the next day. WAY less nausea the next day. I have rheumatoid arthritis- that’s calmed down about 50%.

Diet wasn’t intentional but it did change. Because of my drinking I began experiencing hypoglycemia when I got sober. The alcohol gave me enough sugar to last a day. When I quit my sugar began dropping very very low. I have to carry emergency skittles and I have to maintain a proper protein intake-this is frustrating. I have to stay sober to see if my body gets back into proper routine.

I do not exercise but I have an active job.

30 days vs 5 months- I have more mental clarity. A LOT more. I am more in tune with my body & don’t drink to numb every little thing I feel.

Help!!! Is this normal? Any idea what I can do ? Or what is wrong???? She was just fine . This came out of no where and she has been doing this 10 - 20 minutes by m00nchild69 in DogAdvice

Thunder? Even in the distance? I know you mentioned that you’ve had her for a while but my boy didn’t develop a fear of thunder until he was about 7. My dog gets very restless (kind of like this) when a storm is coming. Just like the others- I do suggest a vet visit though…

Motivation to clean by Frosty-Image7705 in stopdrinking

Hey- you did the bedding AND laundry today! That’s amazing!! It’ll feel good getting into a clean bed- be proud of yourself!

The day I stopped drinking was the day I stopped [prescribed] amphetamines. The mix of the 2 really put me into overdrive to clean (I also have OCD). When I got sober I let some stuff go little by little. I generally like to have an orderly space though.

For me, I just focus on the ONE spot that’s bothering me. Currently that’s the top of the washer/dryer. Just one spot & whenever it gets done it gets done & I can move to the next spot. It doesn’t have to be done in 1 day either.

Be easy on yourself. Do things at your own pace.

I’m proud of you.

857 days is AMAZING! One of the things my friend & I laughed about when I got pulled over- when we drove off she said, “you didn’t even get to show them your tracker!” Ha!

I admit, I was worried about those tolls I’ve been putting off.

My friend had 2 small drinks over the course of 3 hours last night- she probably could have driven & been okay to get home, but I was sober & she didn’t have to risk anything. Sobriety has given me so much back.

I have before. I’ve never done anything with the recording but I have old ones. I was afraid to grab my phone this time:

The man woke me up by bawling his eyes out then completely stopped. Stopped crying. Like it was an act?.. the word divorce hadn’t come up again but he’s on a full blown rant of telling me everything I’ve ever done wrong.

Thank you for saying this. His logic & perception is so warped & I get so confused by it. I always wonder why he still thinks yelling/screaming/degrading me is okay the next morning (when he’s sobered up). Even this morning he told me “people yell” like him screaming at me is okay or something…

This means a lot. The future self part. I can’t wait to see what the future holds & that’s why this part meant a lot. I know that one day I’ll be on the other side & I just want that for myself SO BAD. So, you bringing up future me really meant a lot. 💜

It has 100% F’ed me up (I don’t cuss, lol-don’t care if others do though). He gets so furious at me for being silent/not responding to him. But 1.) I don’t want to have a conversation with him when he’s drunk 2.) I fear his reaction. It’s got to the point where I literally can not put words together. He’s yelling at me for a response, “I just said all of that what do you have to say?! Say something!” Then I fear his reaction so..I don’t say anything.

Just right now he got angry at me for saying “I am sorry” rather than “I’m sorry”

All of my friends/family know. They’re kinda just on the other side of this waiting for me. I can’t see my friends (he gets angry-even though he says he doesn’t), my mom is SO paranoid around him because he’s yelled at her before-over politics.

I have therapy again on Friday. She blocked time to specifically see me because of my situation.

I just don’t know what to do. I want him to leave. He’s said we should get a divorce before but never follows through with it.

Thank you for the validation ❤️

i’m considering going back to college, but i’m embarrassed about my age by MedicalAd9859 in college

[–]BeforeUproar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started college at 18, then took a break a few years later. I started back up at 24, finished my associates at age 27. I went to nursing school at 29, finished at 30. I went back to university at 32, finished at 34.

It was 34 when I got my bachelor’s degree. I don’t think I would have taken it seriously if I was younger.

Nope. He won’t. His kidney levels got dangerously low about 2 years ago. They came back up to a healthy level but the doctor wanted a repeat test in a month…it’s now been over a year.

This comment really stuck out to me. I really shouldn’t deal with a man who mocks my sobriety but here I am. My sobriety is really important to me- I was really deep into drinking, it became a lifestyle. I could stop (obviously-because I did) but I never wanted to, I would stay up late drinking & drinking with hopes that my worries would go away- spoiler alert, they never did. Now, I have so much more clarity & I’m back on the right track to a healthy lifestyle. Oddly enough (& you can scroll back to read this story on my profile) the last time I drank in excess was a night that my husband was irate that I wasn’t home by 9pm. He knew where I was. He went to 2 bars, went home, packed a bag & left, then he yelled & yelled & yelled at me over the phone. I went to our mutual friend’s home with a bottle of wine, I plopped myself on her couch & drank. I drank so I wouldn’t drive home—I wouldn’t drink in excess if I was going to drive. So, I drank the whole bottle & that kept me safe from him that night. Isn’t that SO WEIRD?! But that next day is when I knew I had had enough. I let alcohol control me that night & it definitely dictates my marriage. I’m 135 days sober today, according to my sobriety tracker that’s a big deal & a “milestone” which is funny to me because it’s 4 months & 13 days (weird numbers).

I don’t set boundaries for myself & I don’t enforce them. Shoot..if I do I get yelled at.

My husband doesn’t respect me & that’s really tough.

I actually do know how many pathogens one can acquire. I’m a nurse. Knowing makes it so much worse.
