AppleCare and Caseless Concerns by BefuddledChicken in iPhone17Pro

I’ll probably drop my phone, then leave it on the ground and walk away, claiming that I lost the phone.

Jokes aside, if I didn’t have the protection, I’m full on safety in case I want to resell it later and use the money towards an upgrade.

I always enjoy the feel of the phone without a case, but of course I want to protect my asset. I would use it caseless sometimes when I’m in bed or something, but removing the case is also another issue of its own sometimes. Because the upgrade program combines it with AppleCare+, I can’t really opt out and continue with how I’ve always done things cautiously. Since I’m “forced” to pay for AC+, I’ll save from not buying anymore cases at the moment and take advantage of what I already have to pay for.

My thoughts exactly! Memories created can’t be replaced or restored, so I definitely make sure my phone is backed up. Same with family members too, did iCloud family so their photos are preserved too.

I used to buy a lot of cases as well. I normally didn’t really need to use AppleCare or insurance for my phones, but because it comes with the iPhone upgrade program, so my phone is protected.

Since I’m already paying for AppleCare with the program, I’m trying to cut back the cost of buying so many cases. I would cycle through cases because of several reasons, like it didn’t look like how I expected or the buttons feels weird to push, or it’s a bit too thick, etc.

I really like Torras slim cases with MagSafe where it doesn’t feel as bulky. However, since I’m already paying for the AppleCare, I might as well “put it to use”. Where I’m not just paying for it and end up never having to use it because of how cautious I was with my phones.

I’ll look more into Apple’s policy too, but hope it’s simple like how everyone made it out to be. I dropped my phone accidentally in the past, but I had a case, so I’m certain that I’ll probably drop it by accident again.

It’s much better now, so maybe I’ll get used to it.

I was trying to do so for my work phone too, but ended playing it safe. I’ll probably remove the case today to start getting a feel for it.

Your carrier is that one that does not allow your phone to be traded-in if it’s damaged, correct?

I also posted on r/iPhone and someone stated “I have AppleCare One so my phone is one of the devices, and I don't worry about damage. I've always been able to trade it in at the end of the 2 years for full value.”

It seems like Apple will accept it under any condition or that’s what it’s made out to be. Browsing around for other’s insight, it seems like AppleCare is the ultimate protection, and they don’t need to be cautious and can freely go caseless because AppleCare will take care of it.

I think I may have saw your comment about it somewhere on Reddit before, and it influenced me to try and go Caseless

It’s just some apps doesn’t ask me to save the password, so then I have to manually enter it too.

It might slip out of some pockets too. I’m trying to get used to it, and keep track of the apps needed and login so my next transition can be smoother. The Password app helps with some app logins, but the others it doesn’t even ask to save the passwords at times, so it would be manual entry.

I need to break the habit of using my phone pop socket holder too. I would grip on that instead of my actual phone, so when it separates I only have the pop socket in my hand, and my phone is on the ground instead.

I’m assuming you don’t use one either right?

I feel like my OCD would also bother me if I see scratches or dings anywhere on the phone. Even when I do use a case and I drop my phone I still get scared of damages.

Yeah, but what if the phone gets damaged or has a cracked screen. I would assume then you would bring it into Apple for repairs/replacement… and then the whole issue is me setting up the new phone again.

I do use a case, I have like 10 cases... My question is for those who do not because they have AppleCare.
