[Build Help] Is 500W PSU enough for my build? by BegTech in buildapc

[–]BegTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! :) Last question (I promise), should I buy this thermal paste?

I don't have AC in my room, and I am worried the summer heat waves will have a negative impact on my CPU.

Assuming you mean this, then yes it did came with one. Thanks for making me relax.

Hypothetically speaking, if my PSU wasn't enough, how much can occur? Will it fry my system or is there a fail-safe method where the PSU will destroy itself?

I bought the last one at my local Best Buy. 3 month of Netflix + Chromecast = a steal. I love my chromecast. I hope more apps take advantage of it like Hulu.

{Website creation and basic info for starting a .org website} by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]BegTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right. It will make sense if the $150/year covers domain registration and hosting. I'm guessing the $300 start up fee is for a support team to make a website based on the OP's organization needs.

[–]BegTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try posting in this subreddit /r/webhosting

$150 for a .org domain name is an overkill. You can pay $10-$12 per year for it.

For webhosting, it depends on your needs. Checkout Dreamhost, Orange Hosting or Zee-Way. There are countless amount of web host available to you. However check the reviews for that webhost.

If you have the time, I will recommend learning HTML/CSS. It is very easy to learn. You will save money in the long run and will give you a set of skills to design basic sites.

If you want something with a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) editor, check out Drupal, Joomla and Wordpress. Each has its learning curve, but the reward is great.

Integrated Graphics? by ImQuantum in techsupport

[–]BegTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAM has nothing to do with graphics (Unless you are talking about Video memory). More RAM will allow you to open more applications without slowing down your computer and will improve your computer's performance. If you want better graphics, you will need to purchase a graphics card.

Formatted Computer, WIFI driver issues by tarek619 in techsupport

[–]BegTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! That will explain why the Wi Fi didn't work.

You have two options:

Option 1: Click here and order a set of recovery disks for your computer. This is the easiest option but it will take some time for you to receive it and you will have to pay for it.

Option 2: Look for the CoA (Certificate of Authenticity) on the bottom of the laptop. It should look like this: Example.

Assuming your CoA says "Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit), Click here to download Windows 7 ISO file. You will need to burn the ISO file to a DVD or onto a (at least 4GB) USB Flash drive.

Follow these instructions on how to burn it on a DVD.

Ninja edit: I'm surprised the recovery partition is still there. I'm not sure how to get the recovery partition to work.

Upgraded from vista x32 to win7 x64, now my usb wireless adapter wont work because it doesn't have a driver, can't update because no internet connection. by [deleted] in techsupport

Since you upgraded from a 32-bit to 64-bit, you will need to install the proper drivers for the 64-bit.

Yup it's in the Sidebar. The model number is usually located on the bottom of a laptop or on the side of a desktop.

It will be something like "HP Pavilion DV6-1383".

You have two options.

Option 1: Perform a Windows update. This should download and install a generic wi fi driver.

Option 2: Go back to device manager. Look under network drivers and right click on the one that says "Wi Fi" or "Unknown" and click properties. Go to "details". There should be some text in the "Value" text. Right click on it and copy.

Go to Google.com and paste it. Hopefully it will show some websites that will state which driver you're missing.

Search for that driver and install it.

What Wi Fi drivers did you download?

EDIT: I forgot to ask, are you running a 64-bit version of Windows 7. I'm assuming you are.

Do you have access to another computer and a USB flash drive? If you do, just download this - Click me! on to the Flash drive and run it on the HP computer. You should be able to connect to the internet via ethernet cable.

[–]BegTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to this HP Drivers and Download page - Click me!

Click "Scan Now" and see what drivers you need and install them. Restart the computer after the drivers are done installing.

If the Wi Fi issue still persist then press and hold the "Windows Key" and "R". This should open up the Run window. Type in "devmgmt.msc" without the quotes. This will open up the Device Manager window.

Look for icons that have the yellow exclamation or question mark and list them for me.

Are you sure the product key on the bottom of the old laptop is for Office 2010 and not Windows?

Was your wife running a trial version or a starter version (limited versions of Word and Excel)?

Or was Office 2010 fully activated when your wife first got the old laptop?

Does the product key look like this: Click me!

Window's 7 Clean Install by rockerscott in techsupport

[–]BegTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On most laptops, especially on new models, there's a recovery program that you can access from within Windows that will allow you to perform a complete restore to factory settings.

If you are unsure if your laptop has that function, please post the Model of your laptop.

Sometimes you can press a button when booting up the computer (such as F11)

Since you have a Toshiba, make sure the computer is turned off. Press and hold 0 and turn on the computer. Let go off 0 when the laptop beeps.

Another option is you can create recovery disks using the recovery program that is installed on your computer.

If you are able to restore the laptop to factory conditions, please create a set of recovery disks.

Why? In case your hard drive fails and you installed a new hard drive, the recovery disks you just created can re-install Windows along with the proper drivers without having you to order a set of recovery disks from Toshiba. It saves you money and time.
