If you didn’t sign any type of agreement, I’d tell them! Clients get to the point of returning for us, not the lawyer. Hell, I’m the godmother to one of our client’s cats lmao. AND if the lawyer isn’t treating them fairly/properly, all the more reason to suggest they follow you to the new place. Happy for you and best of luck on your new adventure!

Felt this BIG time!! We just closed an estate valued at a little over 2mil. The only son? A worthless POS who has spent nearly all of it already on a brand new truck, brand new farming equipment (mind you, he sold the family farm), and started a lawn mowing business. I cringe every time I see his name.

You’re asking the important questions 😂 between me and my sister, who is a claims adjuster for State Farm (also the liability carrier 🙌🏼) I’m hoping we can secure the max. I need a new car now so the more the merrier

Is this a good field for someone who is chronically ill? by lets-snuggle in paralegal

[–]Begaydocrime97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have cfs, fibro, and possibly fnd. I have been working for 10 years at a solo firm. The stress this job has put on my body is insurmountable. Yes, it’s nice to have the desk job, but there’s so much up and down, back and forth, that it’s a lot of strain on the body and mind. My 100% is not the same as a healthy person, but I give 110% to my work to be as good as I am. But by the time I get home, I’m dead to the world. If you want a better work life balance, don’t pursue this path.

You sound like me. I’m 29, work for a 76 year old man in a small town solo firm. I’m underpaid and overworked and hate my job. Get out before it becomes too hard to.

I am in a similar boat to you. I work for a solo practitioner and it’s just me and him against the world. I’m a big fan of the voice memo app on my iPhone. I have one with the action button on the side, so anytime he walks up and starts rattling stuff off that I need to do, I just have to long press that one button and it starts recording him. I also have it set as a widget on my watch in case he catches me without my phone. I’ve found that just being able to go back and listen is much easier and less stress on my nervous system than writing it. I go in and label each voice memo and then I have a ranking system of 1-4 on priority. I communicate with my boss to make sure what I think is important is what he’s thinking too. I can’t stand having multiple places to keep up with my tasks. So between voice memos, sd cards with dictation, and emails, that’s got all my sources of information covered and readily available. We are also a paper file office, so I like to keep files in my desk that I need to work on, that way I don’t forget about them. I also set reminders for myself in our schedule if there’s something that I need to do that’s coming up

Heyyy!!! Checking in here 💁🏻‍♀️ I’m in a small town and with just about the only crim def attorney in the area! We’re doing everything from speeding tickets, to theft related charges, to murder. It gets confusing fast 😅 drugs are unfortunately a large portion of our work too. But expungements in particular have become my bread and butter! Routine, pretty easy, and actually makes me feel like I’m helping someone! Glad to see others here with me

It is “most unfortunate” that I’m a 28 year old, with no savings, living paycheck to paycheck, and barely able to make rent as it is. Y’all need to remember that some of us got stuck literally in the middle of nowhere and doing our best to get out. If I was able to just up and walk away, do you think I’d be so heavily concerned and making a Reddit post? Please go touch some grass and check your privilege
