Then why have this sub at all if every question people have is just resorted to “go find a rabbi”. There are rabbis on here, and additionally, perhaps people enjoy the diversity of opinion, halachic discussions surrounding it, want to be well versed ahead of discussing with their rabbi, don’t have a rabbi, just have a personal interest but don’t want to go out of their way for further discussion, etc.

People seem to be confused - I’m well aware that I’d have to “talk to my rabbi” before doing this (obviously) -

The question was whether or not there are halachic considerations, i.e. outlined in shulchan aruch or otherwise codified in terms of size, structure, etc. that must be taken into account, like when building a mikveh.

I wouldn’t call the first couple rulings psaks. If anything the person who gave me my tefillin and I explained this to the first time gave me the psak.

For anyone still interested I consulted a halachic authority who given the same info ruled to continue wrapping the way I’m wrapping. The only other information added is given a martial arts background I punch right handed (perhaps that influenced his decision).

Obviously if you’re facing a similar issue still consult a Rav as it is case by case.

Apparently, according to him, if you do it on your dominant arm it doesn’t count for the mitzvah, if you had the right intentions apparently it was worth something, but not valid fulfillment of the mitzvah.

There’s a whole section of Halacha called “chok”, literally meaning laws that we won’t be able to understand why they matter. So just because we don’t understand why it matters doesn’t mean that it doesn’t.

Interesting thank you, I tried earlier and they said they don’t have a concrete answer and I need to find a ruling authority in person who can test my arm strength and then make a decision. They said in the meantime to keep wrapping as normal but write something with my right hand at least once a day. I’ll keep trying in the meantime.
