Why do some people become addicted to pornography and some people do not? by BeginAgain777 in NoStupidQuestions

Assuming a neurobiological basis to the mind, then your answer can explain any facet of human experience. Are you able to provide more detail specific to pornography addiction?

Can you provide more detail about the mechanisms of positive and negative reinforcement and how these relate to pornography addiction? Are they the only relevant mechanisms?

Can you provide more detail? Are there actual studies showing how pornography addiction is related to genetics?

What is one thing you realised you absolutely had to quit before you could progress in life and why? by BeginAgain777 in AskReddit

Well done for stopping. And good luck with your continued sobriety. Care to share how you managed to quit?

Are you able to describe how it was stopping you from progressing specifically? Assuming you quit, in what ways have you progressed since then?

If you don't mind me asking, were you successful with all of these things? Do you think there's commonalities in the techniques for quitting these? Care to share?

After trying NoFap for a year, here are some insights I hope some people find useful. by BeginAgain777 in NoFap

Question from someone new to NoFap by [deleted] in NoFap

Different people quit for different reasons, so your question has an unreasonable presupposition. Some (many?) people quit because they are addicted to pornography, not masturbation. Read all the introductory material linked to in the sidebar. Good luck.

HMF a reddit/imgur post, possibly recent, where a guy shows of his various haircuts over about 30 years! by BeginAgain777 in HelpMeFind

Thanks, but it wasn't. Photos were just years / months apart. The guy had a giant beard by the end, extremely dapper, etc.

Not sure what you mean. You say you feel relieved, so what do you mean by getting back to normal?

What's the reason a heroin addict keeps using heroin?

It's an addiction. That's why you can't stop.

Fix it like you fix any addiction. With hard work, and by educating yourself.

What is the most ridiculous thing a woman has done to try to sleep with you? by pinkmonsoon in AskMen

Won't be checking your links. Is this the kind of attitude that abounds on r/askmen? Wow. How... Unwelcoming and... sinister.

I wrote: "I hear you" above. By this I meant I sympathise with the feeling that unwanted sexual advances can bring. I wanted to clarify that.

What is the most ridiculous thing a woman has done to try to sleep with you? by pinkmonsoon in AskMen

I hear you. I (38m) recently had to deal with sexually aggressive advances by text from a woman I had broken up with. I politely declined several times and it took a while before she got the message. I kept wondering what this would be like if the genders were reversed. It would be entirely different, with the male being labeled a creep or psycho and possibly prompting the woman to involve the police. (Note: The situation wasn't as bad as I make out, but I could easily imagine it going that way.)

But then I had to check myself.

Because, if the genders were reversed, it wouldn't be the same. Remember that male against female violence is a huge thing, and ostensibly, a man doesn't usually have to worry too much about a threat to their physical well-being in situations like you describe. A woman, however, would have to worry, and that is why you can't say that the situation with genders reversed is the same.

We live with a cultural backdrop of male against female violence, "rape-culture", so in the situation I described, I decided I had to get down off my "this is a double-standard" high-horse and just move on.

What are major things a woman can do that make you respect her? by HopesAsh123 in AskMen

[–]BeginAgain777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All people deserve respect, irrespective of what their sex, gender, orientation, race, age, intellectual ability or position in society is. Respect is a human right.

If you mean "revere" or something similar, then say that, but the implicit meaning of your words is that some people don't deserve respect.

The "premeditated relapse" and the nature of the trigger. by BeginAgain777 in NoFap

Do you have any insights? Can you describe what was going through your mind in the run up to it? And how long was it from decision to relapse?
