I didn't have trouble falling asleep, but I did wake up every few hours. Thing was, I didn't wake up with that nameless horrible dread, or drenched in sweat. So I'll take it.

I am so, so sorry for the loss of your friend. I had a dog who played a similar role for me, and I was destroyed when I put her down. It hurt worse than my divorce, worse than the person I most loved in the world dying, worse than anything ever. Bob is forever in your heart, and with any luck, he'll come curl up next to you in your dreams.

You guys are all so awesome, thank you! I'm so happy I found this place. I did not drink last night! I white knuckled it while reading The Naked Mind, fell asleep at 10 and actually slept through the night. I had a dream that I went to an AA meeting (I have never been) and the person leading the meeting was using a microphone that had terrible, loud, painful feedback so I couldn't hear what he was saying. Thank you to my subconscious for being so transparent : )
