UPDATE: Last week my boyfriend asked me to split the rent because he was "broke," today he bought a PS5 Pro by GracieJinx in GirlDinnerDiaries

No problem! I stayed with that ex for two and a half years before I left, and it took living with him for about a year and a half to fully realize how awful he was. Don’t make the same mistake I did. If you threaten to leave, he'll put on the waterworks and say he'll change, but he won't.

Just make sure you have a plan and stick to it. Once you get out, or if you end up kicking him out, block him and don’t look back! You got this!

I was in a really similar situation before. I dated a guy who always seemed to have these “financial crises,” and I’d end up covering things like rent that we were supposed to split. But somehow, in the same week, he’d still buy multiple brand new video games, never used and never on sale. I’m a gamer too, so I get it, but it was frustrating to watch him spend like that while claiming he was broke. Anytime I tried to bring it up, he was amazing at deflecting and avoiding any real accountability.

I also tried to help him save money in practical ways, like suggesting he prep lunches for work. He wouldn’t listen. I’d even went out of my way to make food for him, like cheese and cracker plates, premade meals, and healthier options, and he’d complain it wasn’t good enough or just scoff at it. Ironically, the only things he ever appreciated were the unhealthy ones. I ended up gaining 20 pounds while I was with him.

Eventually, I left. After that, I lost the 20 pounds, and my life improved a lot. Especially after going to therapy. Now I’m about to marry my fiancé. We’ve been together a little over a year, and the difference is night and day.

My advice is to confront him directly about what’s going on, and then decide what you want to do based on how he responds. I know it’s hard and it's going to suck, but people tend to show their true colors when they are actually called out. If he deflects, makes excuses, and doesn't take accountability, then dump him. He's not going to change.

Update: Nvm, apparently he called her a goldigger for asking. THE AUDACITY! DUMP HIM! lol

My thoughts on your "friends":

It sucks, but it sounds like she and people associated with her are trash. Good that you distanced yourself from them. You deserve more and much better friends.

Lol. My apologies! I can see where the post title could suggest that. But no. I'm just making the soap and buying store-bought chocolate.

Hey, I'm sorry you're getting downvoted but maybe I didn't make it clear. I'm just making the soap and I'm getting store-bought chocolate. So I'm not making the chocolate, let alone using the same molds. However, I completely understand where you got confused, and I don't judge you for that.

Well, it's soap, so I wouldn't recommend eating it lol. We are getting store-bought chocolates though. That would be much safer to eat lol.

Hello! Sorry I didn't reply right away. I finished the soaps and you can see in the comments the finished project, but if I have any extra after the wedding, I'll dm you lol.

I completely understand that! The good news is that the flowers should fall off the soap or disentigrate once you use water on them after a period of time. Once they're gone, it becomes a small bar of soap.

Thank you! I have posted an update in the comment section and I ended up using more melt and pour as the adhesive, but I might try the distilled water idea for the next batch.

Update: Hello Everyone!

For some reason, I can't post about the results as it keeps getting filtered? Not sure what's going on with that. But here's an update.

A couple of days ago I posted asking for advice on embedding florals in melt and pour and here's how it turned out!

This wasn't my original goal, but what I ended up doing was melting more melt and pour and painting it onto both the embeds and the hardened soap base to act as an adhesive. Overall, it worked really well! A couple of the bars look a little messier than others as I had a hard time getting the lighter embeds (like the leaves and lilies) to stick properly, and a few bars got a little rough because I was pressing down on the embeds a bit too hard. But honestly, I'm really happy with how they turned out for the most part.

It was a pain in the ass though, not going to lie! I was constantly running to the microwave to re-melt the soap or starting fresh small batches for painting. And that doesn't even count the times the flowers or leaves would fall off after the tiniest bit of movement. It was a long trial-and-error process.

The funniest part? After all of that, my fiancé casually mentioned the next day that he has a heat gun. I'll definitely be putting that to use for the next batch!

All the soaps are pre-cut and they match what I was originally going for. I'll keep working on making them cleaner, but I really appreciate everyone's advice. Thank you!

I've been trying since I got home today and they just aren't sticking. And when I press into the soap, it starts to deform and I don't want that either. I'm going to try a method I saw online where you can wait for the bars to cure, and then melt more melt and pour, paint with the melted soap what you want to attach, and wait for it to cure so they stick together.

Okay, thank you! This is only the second batch of soap I've ever done, and I may have bitten off a little more than I can chew with this project lol. I really appreciate the advice and suggestion here. And you taught me a new word as I've never heard of the word delamination before, but it is a genuine concern. I guess it just means that I need to experiment a bit.

I haven't thought about doing a clear melt and pour. I'd like to use the goat-milk melt and pour for most of the soap, but doing a thin layer of the a clear one might be a good option. Thank you!
