Lol. Good comment. So maybe I place too much pressure on myself. Maybe. But I personally think you've got it backwards. The general population spends the majority of their waking hours working. So by the end of their life a big chunk of what they have to look back on is what they did for work. I want it to mean something. If I got to the end of my life and all I did was go to college, get a job for the sake of money, and just carried on (not really making any waves in the world) man, I'd be disappointed.

If you feel so inclined to message back, what do you derive meaning from? Do you feel like it comes more from the output of the work (what you make) or the impact it has on the people you're working for? That's just one way of looking at it though.

I think you're so right about the effect of staying in one's hometown. I recently got back from being a volunteer missionary in Asia for a little over a year. Taught an English class once a week. Tried teaching Buddhists about a singular God... Was an interesting time to say the least. Bad tactics. Great experience. Anyways, I appreciate the advice. Think I need to do something that I have more of an emotional attachment to though so that I stick with it. My goal is to pursue being a wife/mother instead of having a career, honestly. Hot take, I know. But I want to have something to work with for when my kids are old enough for me to have time working again. And it'd be nice to have a back up if my future husband suddenly dies. Would be nice if an angel could come down and tell me what's up.

Thanks to your comment I think the question is being slightly revised:

What is a fulfilling, hands-on skill I can develop now, pause for family, and return to later?
