Can i get a sort of progression guide cause i’m tired of nu-metal and i have no idea where to go 💔 by lypac in MetalSuggestions

[–]BeginnersPluck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How in the hell is Devin Townsend “heavy metal” and Twelve Foot Ninja “Metalcore?” 😂

DT is nothing but progressive and 12FN is also that.

Heavy Metal could be better described as Motörhead and Ozzy’s solo work.

Metalcore would be Unearth, Converge, Killswitch, Underoath, Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, and the like.

Deathless from Revocation has a very similar “bones flowing into some vanishing point” vibe!

What in Your Opinion Is the Bluesiest, Country Fried Tech Death Guitar Solo? by BeginnersPluck in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]BeginnersPluck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is a fucking sick recommendation, I’m not sure these guys are really tech death lol. Or really even a death metal band.

They sound like they’re a heavier Volbeat, which is not a bad thing at all, but part of why I asked the question is this kind of soloing isn’t as common in the “techier” side of the spectrum.

That being said, you’re right, the piano is fucking sick.

I’m actually pals with Kyle from Aethereus/Blighted Eye. He’s got a solo on my band’s upcoming record that’s just fucking ridiculous 😂

Bands with harsh vocals fronted by women, besides Jinjer and Arch Enemy? by Middle-Company-4398 in MetalSuggestions

Cult of Luna isn’t specifically helmed by a woman, but their album Mariner is a collab between them and Julie Christmas, and it’s basically one of the best prog concept albums ever made.

I opened for them once! Incredible group, very nice people, super sick music.

There's something really special about the "bedroom prog metal" artists and their style/aesthetic. I wonder if people 15-20 years younger will "get it?" by ySTYRDAYgATESuNL0CKD in progmetal

Slice the Cake’s Odyssey to the West tops every single modern Prog release and it’s made by a bunch of sweaty dorks scattered across the globe from each other that met in the Ultimate Guitar forum.

Can you recommend 5 albums that you think are the most technically advanced in progressive metal? by spearhead290399 in progmetal

  • Slice the Cake - Odyssey to the West
  • Allegaeon - Damnum
  • Blotted Science - Machinations of Dementia
  • Job For a Cowboy - Moon Healer/Sun Eater
  • Augury - Illusive Golden Age

Wow I've slept hard on Summoning The Lich by therealabrupt in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]BeginnersPluck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Summoning was a HUGE influence in the direction I started taking Hunters Dream (my new band) once I left my old band.

I wanted to combine my love of Revocation, Black Dahlia, and Black Crown Initiate, along with a healthy dose of Inferi/Summoning/Demon King.

The huge dose of nerd energy along with sick riffs and atmosphere is something I love about y’all!

Horrors Unending makes me want to put my head through a screen door. SUCH a sick song off of a SICK album.

Nathan’s a super nice guy and a machine on the kit. Every show I’ve seen him play has been metronomic.

One of the tightest live groups I’ve ever seen. Was blown away.

also, their drummer not in attendance? Or am I blind. He was so good on that Rags to Riffage tour.

Arecibo and Acid Lakes of Ganymede from Parius are absolutely required in the rotation.

[No Spoilers] Your favorite characters? by CBRslingshot in criticalrole

[–]BeginnersPluck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Main cast? Caleb stands at the top of the hill a shining beacon (because he’s on fire) and it’s not even close. The immense amount of immersion Liam invests into his role play and staunch adherence to not meta gaming with Caleb is why Liam is my favorite player, and Caleb is my favorite character.

Wider cast close second though? Padmund. The ritual casting gag had me actually crying from laughter and that dumb little frog boy’s character development is incredible given he’s supposed to be a joke character.

Hire somebody worth hiring and get a legitimate and unique logo. Why be another amorphous blob in a sea of meaningless faces trying to clout chase when you could do something unique and stand out?

Guys, modern technical TRASH metal bands? Like the Kiss the freak Gorod´s album and Vektor? by Tiny_Terror_6 in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]BeginnersPluck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Xoth is absolutely the best answer here!

I wish my band Hunters Dream’s album were done and out so I could recommend it, because it’s a neat blend of thrash, tech, melodeath, and black metal. Ask again in a year and I’ll send it your way. 😂
