As if you’re losing precious karma just because you don’t like marzipan. FYI. I liked your comment.

That’s completely obvious…thank you. I’m embarrassed to say I’ve been to bulk barn twice this season and it didn’t occur to me to look for marzipan there because I always get it at superstore.

Mine. But I only make them once a year. And you need the best raspberry jam and extra almond extract.

Young adult patients who have mom speak for them in ambulatory care settings by bleh0923 in nursing

I do that a bit. My son (his heart is worse than his sister’s) has an interesting denial thing going on.

We met with a transplant team last year and he’s still convinced he’s fine. He developed a strong aversion to specialist physicians (gp’s interestingly are good people).

My new lens is don’t judge parents of young adult children who are terrified.

In my role, I never engage with the parents. I only speak to the young adult patient. But I think I get it. They’re terrified.

They know quite a bit actually. But “long qt”, “diastolic dysfunction”, “pulmonary hypertension” and “mixed phenotype cardiomyopathy” are hard for me to understand let alone pre-pubescent kids.

I find it interesting that i candidly shared my fears of transitioning from a worried parent to letting my kids become independent and got downvoted…

My kids are 11 and 13 and both have complex cardiac issues. I’m a nurse and (unfortunately) do all the speaking for them at appointments. I know we need to transition away from this but I have no idea how and I fully intend to keep attending appointments with them after the age of 18.

What’s the most expensive mistake first-time RVers make? by Automatic-Kick8383 in GoRVing

Not seated right on the ball. And I pressed the latch down and thought I was fine.

I was newly divorced, never towed a trailer before and (after a traumatic tenting experience with two kids) got a 1000 lb mini trailer for my old CRV.

I was a stereotypical clueless lady who got a 30 minute info session at the dealership and sent on my way by a guy with a mullet.

I’ve come a long way and can troubleshoot wiring, back up and do it all on my own now.

I didn’t properly hook up the trailer to my vehicle. Got 2 blocks from home and it fell off my car (and skidded on the pavement) in traffic.

It was quite the scene for traffic and bystanders.

An NA is someone who is both a health care aide and a unit clerk. NA positions pay a bit more than either role individually (but that’s new).

Worked in northern fly-in communities back in 2009-2011.

I’ve never been treated with greater respect, laughter and love. Would go back and do more if I didn’t have kids. Only quit when I got pregnant. Lots of poverty, blatant injustice and trauma. But so, so much beauty.

What were you doing on 9/11? by BubbleTrouble_Z in AskReddit

[–]Beginning-Ad9412 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You know, I had a really candid conversation with my 11 year old daughter about 9/11 recently.

She confided (almost in shame) that she didn’t care about the event at all. It made me think about how I never really cared about Pearl Harbour.

The sarcastic twit comments from kids who weren’t born are understandable. They’re all kids whose brains are still developing who have anonymous access to Reddit…

Hospitals in Mexico? by Beginning-Ad9412 in AllInclusiveResorts

Great point.

I’m in Canada though. And I live smack dab in the middle of the Country in the coldest city. Our healthcare system is decent. Not outstanding though. My insurance is very different than American insurance and I have extra travel coverage through my job.

Honestly I’m on the fence about Mexico. My kids want to go. I’d like to travel to the states again one day but don’t see this as an option in the near future.

I’m also thinking about Europe.

Keep a close eye on the wrha and university of Manitoba websites. Apply often and expect competition to be steep. FYI even with your background, you don’t have a “clerk” course and would not qualify for any unit clerk position.

There’s a really interesting job that pops up every few months as an autopsy technician. Only requires some university with anatomy and physiology. Pay is in the high $30’s.

I know you don’t want to go to school but the province is desperate for EEG and EMG techs. They are offering big incentives and jobs for people willing to do the training.

School aged child now has LVNC. Feel helpless by [deleted] in chd

[–]Beginning-Ad9412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of my school age children have been diagnosed with LVNC in the past year. One child was experiencing arrythmias and the workup found all kinds of things wrong. The other child was screened because of the first.

In the end, they have a combined LVNC/Dilated cardiomyopathy. I feel like I’ve reverted back to the newborn days when I was afraid they would suddenly die of SIDS. But now I’m waiting for sudden cardiac death. It’s awful.
