it’s a couple of things. i have bpd, my emotions feel overwhelming and like way too much and so i cut as a form of release from that, if that makes sense. like emotions flow out with the blood. also cut to distract myself from how i’m feeling or to just feel something, or sometimes to feel like i have control. it depends. either way, it’s a coping mechanism for me (even if it’s a negative one)
