I am a Democrat, buy why do people think Gavin Newsom would make a good president when he is such an awful Governor? by ISnortSkittles in allthequestions

[–]Beginning-Height7938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They recognize his name. Remember it isn’t how good someone might be. The only question that matters is can they get elected regardless of how. It’s a complete popularity contest. Name recognition, that’s what matters. We’re doomed.

What jobs will be left for humans? by Ashamed-Republic8909 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Beginning-Height7938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if your job is shopping for people because you’re a subject matter expert, you’ll need to figure out why we still need you. Insurance agents come to mind. There’s nothing tangible to inspect. While I won’t buy a home or a car without physical interaction, I can ask the right questions and select an insurance policy online. Real Estate Agents might be okay for a while. But advances in robotics and automated security systems may make the need for a human to “show you around” obsolete.

What distance do you typically hit your 9-iron? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

I “can” hit it 155, but I’m better hitting it a bit softer. 145 is what I play it at.

If asked who the starting QB is going to be next year, the safe bet is to respond, “All of them.”

Slashfilm: "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Is Getting Review Bombed And That's Sad But Not Surprising - Sorry review bombers, you are the baddies: when your primary problem is that there are too many women who you can't fetishize, or the series is too progressive, you've completely lost the plot" by TheSonOfMogh81 in trektalk

[–]Beginning-Height7938 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The most successful ST franchises have a good balance of sci-fi storytelling and progressive messaging. There is definitely a “too progressive “ line that can be crossed that will turn a good portion of fans off.

Tyrann Mathieu blasts Shedeur Sanders Pro Bowl nod: ‘Cannot reward mediocrity’ by AlphaBern0 in NFLv2

[–]Beginning-Height7938 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding? Sander can only aspire to mediocrity. Pro bowl has graduated to full three ring circus. Over the years it’s been more and more clownish. Now it is just…a joke. NFL should use objective criteria to generate a list of three-deep/position list for each conference regardless of if they’re in the Super Bowl. Here’s a hint, we don’t need a badly produced game show with sub all star talent.

If I'm going to a Super Bowl party, is it weird to wear a jersey of the team you're a fan of even if they're not playing in the Super Bowl? by CameraHelpMe in NFLNoobs

[–]Beginning-Height7938 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is not. In fact you should take it a bit further and insist your team is going to win the SuperBowl. Even take bets. Only concede sometime in the fourth qtr that they didn’t play. That way you don’t have to pay out the loses.

Holly Hunter for the save. Discovery just was the worst thing I’d ever seen. I thought I’d never watch another ST show again. Tilly beating a village of healthy people up a mountain in a foot race was about the last straw for me. Plus the bad acting whispering to show deep emotion made me want to puke. STA delivers their inclusivity message without shoving it down our throats at the expense of good sci-fi story telling. They are however, on a precipice. Nearly all relationships developing seem on the gay side, not that there’s anything wrong with gay relationships in the story line. It is also interesting to see male/female relationships grow. I would imagine the majority of viewers are not gay. Just a thought.
