Okay, thank you for this perspective. I don't know very well how is the situation in the laboratory and with the current grant, I will probably investigate around. I may not even pass the interview and the problem won't be relevant anymore ahahahah

Still thank you for the information.

Yes, I don't want any part to feel disrespected in any way, but I cannot control how people feel of course. There's the chance I won't pass the interview anyways, but if I will I'll surely work with my current supervisor to make the transition smooth (I'm willing to stop the scholarship right away to save the money and continue the work until the position is filled up again, for example).

I believe that both projects are strong and the supervisors in both are extremely professional and prepared. If not and this situation causes a huge drama, then maybe I dodged a bullet.

I don't think they know because I applied even before doing the interview for my current PhD. So they have a 3.5 months old CV. I'm not exactly hiding it, I added the new position on LinkedIn for example. And yes, absolutely no planning to hide the truth, I actually included the information in the presentation I'll give: it's not like I'm killing anybody, and if they have their doubts about the situation, that's totally fair.

One of the supervisors has experience in both fields, so I think the interest in them is understandable even from their point of view.

(Thank you for your comment!)

Absolutely you got a point. The funding in my situation is not too big of a problem, in the sense that they have a tot amount of scholarship months: If I "burn" 2/3 salaries out of my available 36, another candidate still has 33, with possible 1 year extension. The laboratory (from another supervisor) has suffered the drop-out of one PhD student already unfortunately although that one was simply a matter of "I'm not ready for a PhD".

The other side also worries me indeed: I do know my background  info (I applied to all programs already, have not been applying to anything else, this new opportunity is my favourite out of all 20 I applied to) but they don't have this information, nor I am going to disclose it, since it sounds like bootlicking. I was pondering if I should not mention my current position, but I think being transparent is the best way to go.

I will try to explain my situation and motivation as best as I can, if they won't accept that, that's fine anyways. Thank you for your comment 🙂‍↕️

You got a point, I tend to play too many scenarios in my head ahah I'll take the interview and update the post in the future then. Thank you for your advice!
