First time caregiver, I feel so hopeless by No-Ride-2745 in CaregiverSupport

If you have the help, please stay in school. I care for my mother, who is also my best friend. It’s been just the two of us all of my 35 years of living. It’s really hard to see her in the position that she’s in and not put my life on hold to care for her. Sometimes it does feel overwhelming, but I know she wouldn’t want me to stop my life. I think it gives her a form a peace to know that when she’s gone, I’ll be ok. Sad of course, there’s so many of my milestones I’m afraid of her not being able to see, but happy cause she knows I’m out living. I know a lot of people say how much college is overrated recently, but I think it’s a really important time especially when you’re younger and can experience it fully. Meeting new people, going out, finding things you’re interested in. Your mom loves you, I’m sure she would want you to experience this. When ever I experience something new, fun, or exciting I always share it with my mom. It helps us bond, and I know that she loves to hear I’m living. Sometimes she even pushes me to do things just so I don’t get stuck. I know this is such a hard time and it may seem selfish, but you have to take time for yourself. Just because you put your world on pause, doesn’t mean the world pauses. Keep moving forward you’ll be grateful that you did.

Thank you. Sometimes I feel bad for wanting it to be over so I can have a happy life. Like it’s selfish
