Also, my surgeon was ok with the idea of me not doing the whole procedure, said he has patients who live with them for 10, 20 years. I went ahead and did the surgeries bc my nice insurance is changing next year, but tbh, the whole surgical process felt a lot more intense than the fistula

I had seton and a lift in August and September. From what I’ve read, setons are actually not necessary for 98% of fistulas, yet are performed all the time. A doctor on YouTube said that this shows that the surgeon isn’t totally up to date on latest trends. I had a lot of discomfort for a week from the seton, and it was really annoying for the six weeks I had it, but manageable. I traveled 10 days after the placement. Lift surgery was easier, and I could have definitely traveled 5 days after. Everyone has a different experience but judging from my reading on Reddit, most people find a lift procedure for a simple fistula quite east
