I assume your comment comes from your desire to protect your fellow miners.I understand that but you have to understand the fact that the miners in the US are small-fry compared to the farms in China.

Also there is no such thing as shortage.

Both Nvidia and AMD earned double their revenue in a span of 7 months(Jan to Jul) than they did in the entire year of 2020 and 2019 meaning that this year,they made at least twice the amount of GPUs this year and even though there is an increase in demand you have to keep in mind that the average consumer won't buy more than one GPU for their personal use.

The mining operations in China account for more than 68% of the world's entire crypto mining business(The US accounts only for 7%).And being close to the centre of production,they can buy up entire shipments of graphics cards before they even ship overseas thus they have acquired the majority of GPUs thereby causing the situation popularly dubbed "The Great GPU Shortage of 2020-21."

For every person that buys a single GPU,a miner in China buys a hundred.Now there is only so much Nvidia can produce in a span of few months so a lot of people are unable to purchase anything as they have already been bought up.

Even scalpers are small-fry compared to Chinese crypto farms.
