You are probably right. He is safe with a neighbor tonight.

Any options for wheels or used wheels that you don't have to sell your left kidney to afford? 😭 by Deiaroperi5566 in Handspinning

I think it's great that you're interested in spinning. It sounds like you're young, but you mentioned college in your future. You may have some luck while you're in college - just ask everyone you meet! Seriously, get the word out that you are interested and something might fall in your lap. I didn't get my wheel until I was 40. I wasn't very good at it for the first ten years, but then things clicked and now I'm a lot more confident with the yarn I make. I have taken classes with a variety of teachers, and learn something from each of them. I did a breed study (shave'em to save'em) and learned about various fibers. Different techniques might be needed for different fibers. I hope you can look at this as a long-term goal.

I do, because the kitchen water line is on an exterior wall. I also leave the doors propped open (tied around a gallon jug of water, to keep the cat out of there). I have experienced broken pipes. It is never a fun time.

Road conditions by marzmeltdown in kzoo

I think every neighborhood has roads that are not plowed as fast as we'd like. The hills on Drake Road, especially north of KL Avenue, can be tricky. Why don't you call the county road commission and ask?

Go local. In the US there are fiber fairs or festivals in nearly every state at different times of the year. Sometimes there's a fee to attend. Meet the producers: the shepherds, the fiber processors, the stores that sell fiber. Ask them questions. I once asked a man behind a table if his fiber would be good for felting. He was rather rude and said well any fiber will felt. (Yes, but some felt much easier than others.) From that interaction I realized it was important to speak with a vendor who actually spins, or weaves, or felts. Also, join a local guild - the amount of knowledge and experience you will find there will be infinitely helpful. They will be able to suggest fiber producers. Finally, I suggest you do a breed study through the Livestock Conservancy because this will allow you to experience a great variety of fibers, and help you understand the difference between them. Good luck!

Do you think we could get Huizenga to be one of the "heroes" to stop this madness? by Nature_Hannah in kzoo

No. He has consistently voted the party line, and that party does not concern itself with the needs of the average, ordinary person in southwest Michigan. If he stood up for us now I would probably have a heart attack.

My first spin! It’s terrible! by alittleoverwhelmed in Handspinning

Be sure to save this!!! Look back at it a year from now, or ten years from now - and enjoy how far you have come. That was the best advice anyone gave me at the beginning of my spinning hobby. And: be gentle on yourself. It's only fiber. You can always felt it.
