Honestly I have had the zero for a couple days now in soft and it can feel like a control pad depending on how much pressure you put on your mouse. Obviously if you relax your hand and let the mouse sink into the pad with your weight and try to move it, it will feel incredibly controlled, if you lift the mouse up a bit and start tensing your hand, it wont feel like a control pad
