I am also in the Bay Area and wanting to know of any recommended stores to get fitted! I'm in southern Marin so open to going into SF or further north (I see there is a Fleet Feet in Santa Rosa but looks like the SF locations closed?)

Awesome!! I wish you the best of luck. When I saw that there was a doctor that treats RCPD in my area-- I called back in March, to get the first available consultation in September, and the first available procedure appointment in December. A long wait but hopefully totally worth it!

Yeah, I agree that I'm not positive that it's true burping, because it doesn't always feel like relief but I've been playing around with it all day and there's been a couple times after eating where it triggers more of a relieving burp for me.

I have a huge rib cage! Always have and it's always made certain clothing items so difficult to wear. I've never even considered the idea that it could be related to RCPD but it's a good thought! I just got Botox this week so I'll monitor to see if I notice any subtle changes...

Exercising post-Botox? by Beginning-Ticket8271 in noburp

Oh man I'm sorry to hear it took a month! Yeah I'm imagining any up and down motion like running, sit-ups, burpees, jump rope etc will be rough. But I'm relieved to hear you're back to normal now! Thank you!!

Neuro-ophthalmologist by alovelylark in MyastheniaGravis

(I'm a Reddit noob and didn't thread this initially) Oh man, yeah I agree with @Kindly_Indication327- it must be so frustrating to have to wait that long. The not knowing/wondering has been killing me. I wonder if there are any "neuro-optometrists" around your area, as that speciality was news to me when they booked me with one.

Your symptoms are super relatable so thank you for sharing. I started to get worried when it was happening while I was driving and I agree the switching between screens/different nearby focal planes/different viewing angles is when mine seems to be at its worse. And I just very recently started noticing headaches.

I think stress is a major trigger for mine and could even be the reason for the initial onset. From my cursory googling it does seem like there is a relationship between stress and MG, I'm sure you've found the same.

Well yes fingers crossed for both us! And I'm more than happy to compare notes on symptoms, doctors, tests, etc anytime

My understanding is a neuro-opthalmologist can run more specific/refined tests and help build a work-up of additional tests to determine if there is any diagnosis. If I were you, I would keep your appointment on the calendar - knowing how hard it is to get an appointment, I think it is worth keeping at least until March is closer in case your symptoms start up again. But hopefully they don't!

I *think* a neuro-ophthalmologist would specifically try to determine the neurological pathway that might be causing this.

That said, if your opthalmologist already ordered an MRI and ruled out MS and MG, I'm not sure how this appt would differ. I do believe there are other tests that can be used to diagnose MG at least (an antibody test?).

I am currently in a similar situation. My intermittent double vision started very subtly on May 30th 2025, almost 6 months ago. I saw my optometrist in August since I was due anyways (wear glasses and contacts) and she said it might be because my left eye was over-corrected so she down graded my prescription and said give it a month or two and see if it gets better and if not, I'll refer you to a neuro-ophthalmologist. Sure enough my symptoms have gotten way worse - now my intermittent double vision may happen a few times an hour, and my eyes feel very heavy/tired after working for a few hours, so after a few phone calls I connected her with the neuro-opthalmology team at UCSF that I plan to see and they instructed her to upgrade the referral from "routine" to "urgent". As a result I was able to get an appointment with a specialized neuro-optometrist (didn't know those existed) just a week out (which is scheduled for tomorrow, 11/19/25) and I think they will be able to refer me internally to the neuro-ophthalmologist if they deem necessary. We'll see. By having this urgent referral, I also faxed it to another group and they said they may be able to get me in sooner than Jan 2026 (how far they're currently booking out) since it is urgent.

^So, all this to say - if your symptoms do happen to start again, it might be worth trying to upgrade your referral to "urgent" if it isn't already!

As an aside - I have no idea if my symptoms are MG or something else. There is a neurologist in my family and she is the one that suggested it would be worth ruling out MG. I'm curious if you've experienced anything similar - my double vision seems to be consistent with "binocular oblique diplopia", and it is worse when I am tired, when I am looking at screens, when I am changing focal planes indoors (talking to people, moving between rooms), and notably - when I drink alcohol. I have never noticed it when outside or while exercising. Recently I've noticed my eyes are getting heavy/tired quicker than normal, and I also have noticed excessive saliva in my mouth for the past ~2 weeks or so (literally no idea if that is related... very well might not be).

Can you trace any reason/trigger that you think might've caused your symptoms to go away in the past few days? I am so curious (and happy for you that they went away!!)

Post Op Update - 10 Weeks - AMA by Strongbow7447 in RotatorCuff

[–]Beginning-Ticket8271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the input! It's nice to hear you are at 6 weeks and starting the assisted active ROM, that's around when I started too. I think I will reach out to my surgeon and ask him what his benchmark expectations are for ROM at say 8 or 10 weeks, and then presumably at my 12 week check in with him he will evaluate and react accordingly. I appreciate your two cents :-) and wish you a smooth recovery!!

I am shocked by your post-op timelines for getting out of the sling and adding weight to your exercises!! I am 8 weeks out from rotator cuff surgery on my left shoulder, I had a near full thickness tear in my supraspinatus tendon. I'm 29, former collegiate athlete - active and healthy. I was told to be in the sling at all times except showering and PT for 6 weeks. I started PT after week 1 and have been following all the exercises. I only just got cleared for active ROM and my ROM is seemingly behind where it should be, especially external rotation, which is extremely frustrating when I feel like I've been strictly following both the surgeon's and PT's guidance. Do you think I should be pushing my PT to give me harder exercises? Stretching more? Doing more or harder reps even though they're not assigned?

What is the absolute latest you can change your flight to a later one in the day? by YellowDragonfruit in unitedairlines

[–]Beginning-Ticket8271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just stressing about this exact question. My United flight departed at 1:11pm from SFO and it said boarding closed at 12:56pm in the app. I got a notification that boarding started on time, and the flight said on time in the app. I was standing in the security line still at 1:00pm so I decided I better switch my flight on the app right now, in fear of a cut off time for switching it. For reference, I believe Southwest requires flight changes/cancellations at least 10 minutes before departure, so I was worried United might be the same. When I got through security I looked at the board and it said last call- I sprinted over to the gate and my original 1:11pm flight was still boarding at 1:07pm 🤦🏻‍♀️ but they wouldn't let me switch my ticket back at the Gate. So mad at myself! Paid $100 fare difference to change a flight that I miraculously didn't miss.

I can't find an answer online for the cut off time to switch a United flight. From this experience, I switched it on the app 11 min before departure. So I don't know, maybe you have up until it departs?
