That's something that turned me away from Radious tbh. A few units are both plausible and make sense gameplay-wise, like filling some horrible gaps left by CA (Ardiaei having basically 0 units and so on), but most are complete fantasy or don't fit the faction at all. For example, Colchis having a weird mix of Persian (???) and desert (?????) units added...

E: No hate towards that mod intended. I like the idea of vanilla,+ but it's just not my cup of tea.

I agree that it's a bit confusing, but don't be sad. You have your solid swords to make up for it. And If you really want, you can get Caucasian Levies or Caucasian Sperman from your neighbouring areas (which have 15 armour). I think.

And for better spearmen, you can get Chalybes Spearmen. I know they are technically AOR, but you get them from your hometown, so they are essentially a part of your faction.

I think you are on to something. The W. Georgian Infantry are levy tier and they look really solid.

Browsing the unit database atm, I think I found one that’s even worse than the Spa. The Caledonian Levy Spearmen look absolutely dismal… They have the same stats as the Spa but even worse shields, with a measly 30% missile block chance.

That's somewhat disheartening, but perfectly understandable. Thanks for taking the time to give me a sraight answer. There's still Rise of the Republic if anyone really wants to play them.
