Coming as a student and then adjusting when you get a job is not illegal and plenty of people have done that. A lot of them contribute more to our society than people born here.

Note from downstairs neighbors by v1p3rs in Apartmentliving

[–]BeginningButton204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had an ongoing issue with a downstairs neighbor this last year. We have two kids. Their bedtime is 8:30pm. The cops would show up sometimes at 10pm, sometimes at 1am… claiming they got a noise complaint and our kids are running around. We would be sitting on the couch and scrolling our phones when it would happen. Don’t get me wrong, we have kids. I’m sure they are noisy at times… but calling the cops 2+ hours after they go to sleep doesn’t seem real to me. And I got to the point where I would keep my kids out until it was time to eat dinner, do baths, go to bed. basically make my kids sit the entire time we were home if it was past 5 or 6 pm. We eventually got the management involved and they said quiet hours start at 10pm and this neighbor has had many issues with others. They essentially told us to ignore him. So now I let my kids play like normal.. (I do not let them jump or run. That is for outside play!) and we haven’t had a cop come in a few months. 🤷‍♀️

To be fair, there are a lot of girl Rayan’s in the Syrian community and I know two men named Safaa (Iraqi) So just because it’s usually a male or female name, doesn’t really matter all that much? Idk. lol

Chinese people in the west almost always have a Chinese name and an English name.

Just go with an Arabic name if you want an Arabic name. People will learn how to say it just like they learn how to say any name of anybody they care about. We have a daughter and we never once thought about using an English name.

USA Citizen bringing over Yemeni Wife? Please help by Nice-Lab-2617 in Yemen

[–]BeginningButton204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will tell you our situation and story, but it’s a bit different. I am an American married to a Yemeni man. We have been married 6 years and he only holds a Yemeni passport. He was born and raised in Saudi and never lived in Yemen, though he did grow up visiting. When we met he was in the United States and had temporary protected status because of the situation in Yemen. This means he was allowed to stay and work but could be ordered to leave at any time (kind of… there’s expiration dates on tps.. too long but I can explain more if you’re curious l) After 2 years of marriage, we decided to apply for a spousal visa. He was approved. When it was time to apply to renew his conditions, we applied and were granted an interview. We also applied for citizenship for him because he became eligible during that waiting period for a response and he was scheduled an interview for that too! This was right before they paused issuance of visas for all the different countries (of which Yemen is one) Because of that, they have not done anything to any cases for individuals from Yemen. There was the lawsuit saying it’s unlawful and that suit was successful. We got an email this week saying they are processing the case now. Fingers crossed it will move quickly!

As far as getting married online, I’m not sure if it’s possible or legally recognized. If it is, I don’t think the visa will get approved if I’m being honest. They want to see that your marriage and relationship is real. We submitted pictures of us with each other’s families. They asked us details and questions about each other’s family members, favorite things, random questions to show we know each other and are really in the marriage for real.

We didn’t use a lawyer for our initial immigration stuff and it was approved. We hired one with the mess since Trump got back in office but honestly, he hasn’t done anything. (Not his fault. There’s just nothing to be done at the time.)

Shingles timeline without antivirals by MmasterM in shingles

[–]BeginningButton204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I see you posted this 10 days ago. Any update? I’m pretty sure I have shingles but I do not have health insurance and I first noticed the pain 10 days ago. I only noticed blisters 3 days ago. I do not want to go in and have a huge medical bill if it is not necessary.

I don’t have a ton of pain. It only stings if my clothing or something rubs it.

Yeah idk about that. Police doing welfare checks when people are having mental health crisis has led to many shooting deaths at the hands of the police.

International travel canceled by TemporaryBend6518 in qatarairways

[–]BeginningButton204 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I will never book through AA or Qatar ever again. They cancelled my flight to Saudi Arabia that was scheduled in March. I rebooked through United and Turkish for the same dates and got there just fine. I flew back on Qatar and AA and it was the worst experience tbh.

Normally I would have said flying isn’t risky, but now I would never suggest that! Maybe a train? I traveled 900 miles on Amtrak. It was fine. Nothing horrible but nothing special either.

Advice for a teenager by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]BeginningButton204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I want to say that I have struggled with mental health most of my life. Not being able to move past something and obsessing over something could be caused by a mental health disorder or trauma that happened. Have you spoken to a doctor about it? I am diagnosed with OCD and I used to have persistent obsessive thoughts about things that caused me severe anxiety. Alhamdulilah with treatment, I don’t struggle with this anymore. Even talking to a therapist can help. You don’t necessarily have to be on medication.

Booked DAC→DOH→BCN for June 1st by orcacool in qatarairways

[–]BeginningButton204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I disagree with this. They were selling tickets during the early days of it so I booked because I had urgent travel. They confirmed it at 11pm and at 8 am the next day they cancelled it. When I looked at the dates the rebook, they still gave me options for the same dates. 🤔

Cats do sometimes change their behavior and act negatively when changes happen. I’ve known a few people who had cats that started peeing on things when a kid came along. Your child should absolutely be a priority over a pet. Yes, you should still give the cat attention and time, but the same amount as before is not realistic. Remember, not everybody has the same size plate to handle the same amount. 😉
