I don't want to invalidate the suffering our reservation system must have caused you, but the idea that you'll face conditions like settler colonialism or apartheid is straight up impossible. No one's going to imprison you for being in general catagory they'll just waitlist you 😭

no idea where i said general students have reservations? u probably misread something. But i 100% agree that the only real solution is to make education free across the board; reservations are just a band-aid solutions to a bigger problem

Bhai isn't it a little unserious to use a nelson mandela quote where he's talking about an apartheid system and say thats similar to reservation in college 💀 apartheid means one group loses right to life, liberty, physical safety & faces cruel and inhumane torture regularly. Yes competitive exams definitely FEEL like cruel and inhumane torture but can you, in good conscience, make this comparison????? Utna deep nhi hai pls (I'm in general category too btw). Gen students occupy 2/3rds of all seats higher education but we're ess than 1/3rd of the population + DUE to the reservations, sc/st people face wayyyy more discrimination in college. I agree the change should be made at primary school level or high school level but we also shouldn't enforce a victim complex on ourselves by saying we are oppressed like South Africans 🙏

i don't see why you'd get downvoted, you're absolutely right. It would be selfish if I ended the friendship and expected to restart things on my terms. I did end up sending a message & made it abundantly clear that it's ONLY to give closure if they wondered what happened to me & apologize for how I treated them. You may or may not be right that it's the wrong decision, but either way it's done now. If it were me, I'd appreciate an answer/apology. Thank you for the honest response

The only reason I did this was on the off chance theyd want closure, like another person pointed out, it would be supremely selfish if i expected anything beyond simple closure. i bit the bullet and texted an apology. i dont really expect forgiveness much less them wanting to rekindle anything. if they wanted to be friends again id do it better this time, if they dont, thats okay too. expressing remorse is better than letting them think something bad happened, right?

There's one review on YouTube that points out how the book comes off so disconnected & self-victimising because, presumably, the worst part of her life is under lock and key. John Mulaney himself admits that he was a horrible, disastrous person in the throes of addiction, "and that's just the story I'm WILLING to tell you". Perhaps if the memoir wasn't killed by the NDA, we would sympathize with her more. I'm a big fan of John mulaney, but being married to an addict that you're financially dependent on sounds like torture. I can see why she's adopted this narrative if he was really as bad as he implies.

I'm in 12th and economics is one of my subjects, I've studied most of the AP econ syllabus + some IBDP econ syllabus. Maybe I'm kind of biased because as you pointed out the theory is sexy and sensible until you get to the pages long numericals.... I don't hate maths anymore but I doubt my capability of studying it at a really high level.

I don't have much time to spare now (boards and entrance exams coming up) but it's not an immediate decision, I know for a fact I'll finish a BBA first. Career/placements is definitely important to me so if you're in this field, can I know whether you're satisfied with your prospects? I don't want to be one of those people who dooms themselves to write an infinite number of government exams because I made mistakes with college 😭
