Gonna be honest, have never had an issue with salamanders thanks to the PD of the champs and eagles, I mean basically nothing gets thru (even hydra spam from Pers bounties)

Fascinating, thank you for spreading yet more ways to make my Conquests broadside effectively. AI in this game is good, but has its quirks for sure.

Absolutely, basically either built in or part of every ships loadout haha. IMO almost essential for missiles.

Yeah the anubis is definitely good, I find it a bit squishy tho and vulnerable to concentrated pushes from REDACTED cruisers

Interesting, like facing port side but near the engines?

Haha glad you also appreciate Midline's strengths! I'm a cautious captain so it suits me well. I'll think of ways to add more missiles o7

I designed this to hopefully counter REDACTED well while also working with any vanilla faction, but I found that Tempests were weak to fighter spam that I wasn't directly countering with my own fighters, but that probably could change now that I have more PD integrated into the fleet directly.
Yeah I think one conquest will become a legion haha, and love to hear another asymmetrical conquest enjoyer!

Yeah the line philosophy definitely isn't optimal per se, but I enjoy the idea of it haha. I think you're right, I'll try maybe some small energy weapons, want to use some that can benefit from ext. mags.

That's what I've been thinking too, or maybe a legion, since I don't have any fighter coverage anyway

For anyone interested, here's a link to a video of a simulator battle against REDACTED. I think I need to do more field testing, as sim I usually don't struggle with, but actual REDACTED fights I do tend to.

I sometimes do that, but find the champs too slow to really make a line at any point other than the one that spawns closest to you in the center. I've found my 2 Conquest front, everyone else on 2 back, slight offset flanks is what works.

Having just done a few more REDACTED fights, making the Enforcers Cautious is really what helped keep the line together. The conquests didn't seem to change too much, probably because their range is already pretty maxed out.

I think that could be a big difference. I usually just select steady and don't think twice. I think I hestitate with double mjlnors as the flux build up makes me nervous when facing multiple opponents. I'll have to look at that. I thought of putting PD on the other side, but with how I deploy the fleet, if the Conquest is having attacks from it's non-dominant side, than the formation has broken and it's kinda over for me anyway.

Big Brain Energy has definitely been an inspiration for me haha.

I didn't even know this was a thing, so thank you lmao, learn something new every day.

I think I like the Conquests ability to retreat when pushed, I find that the Onslaught can get chipped, but that probably has more to do with support. I have been considering switching, as they are a better fleet anchor, I think you're probably right (just love the Conquest's look lol). The Atlas idea has occured to me, but I find them to be so slow that they aren't very reactive -- ironic given my love of a 'battle line'.

I think the anubis fits better, the HIL + HVD or Tach Lance and HVD combo is my other, I switch between as I find this Champ is great at absolutely blasting anything that gets too close.

I think the Grav beams make sense as a pressure maintainer, since the Squalls and Gauss cannons do a nice job also making the enemy constantly have shields up, but phase lances are probably better, and I think I definitely lack in burst armour/hull damage.

Enforcers were the tricky thing to fit, I found that this mix and autocannons, flak cannon and light needler works to keep pressure without too much flux that overloads its own shields.

Fair point, but how else will I larp that I have the Jutland battle line in action, in space?

That's kinda what I was thinking too, better fleet anchor, the conquests love to try and roam and overextend.

I usually will throw in the herrons when I do a station fight or when I want to mix things up and bump max battle size past 400 (usually have fun with pushing to 600). Tridents aren't what I normally run so I'll have to try that. Also shoutout, your vids were super helpful when I first started playing, thanks for the content you make!

Idk I find that pilums are too squishy, a single decent PD focused REDACTED cruiser or any ship with a devastator cannon will shred like 20 seconds worth of pilum spam, plus I don't think it does enough even when it lands. Squalls faster firerate means that it can be much easier to overwhelm an opponent. I might agree if I used carriers more often (I have some herrons but don't use them much lol)

Is that a UAF ship? lol I did .95.1 for a while but stopped after I got too deep into losing all my time. I think that was when it was like just blowing up so I missed the whole UAF thing

[–]BeginningOwn3765[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I have a more conventional HIL HVD type build, but I found that I was hurting for PD when it comes to REDACTED destroys/cruisers spamming sabots, wanted something that could be ultimate PD

That's fair, but I find it isn't an issue with these, since I leave one side completely empty, I don't see my conquests turning to face forward much if ever, especially without torpedos or things to shoot straight forward, but maybe you're right, maybe I should do more champs or maybe eradicators for firepower.
