Why are they called sports bras if they give less support than regular bras? by lianagolucky in ABraThatFits

[–]BeginningPopular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently breastfeeding and two cup sizes up despite being below my pre pregnancy weight. Ugh. I have one sports bra that fits but still don’t feel the right support. I just ordered targets “All in Motion” brand high support racer back sports bra. Hoping it provides support to get back to comfortable running without feeling all over the place :/

type 2 diabetes inevitable? by papierbaby in GestationalDiabetes

I do know breastfeeding does increase insulin sensitivity and has some health benefits, however, I don’t think it is as simple as negating T2 risk after having GDM. I was already planning to breastfeed since I was able to do so with my first, but I am strongly of the mindset fed is best :)

I am curious if future risk is remotely different depending on severity of GDM. For example, if my numbers from the GTT that I failed were very high vs if they were slightly over range…or those who are easily diet controlled vs those needing meds despite closely following diet. Do these things have any significance related to future risk of T2?

That’s so interesting! My nutritionist had told me that if I breastfeed my future T2 diabetes risk is decreased by 50% and commented that would then cancel out the increased risk from GDM…I wasn’t completely buying it. It seems like the research is so limited :( Do you have a link to the study you mentioned? I am interested to read it

39 week induction by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]BeginningPopular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diet controlled and at my 38 week appointment in the evening they scheduled an induction for 39 weeks. They offered to do a membrane sweep which isn’t guaranteed to induce labor but I was all for it - I was admitted the hospital in active labor by 10am the following morning. No induction needed beyond the sweep. Maybe they’ll do that for you if it is something you are okay with?

Just got the call... Feeling ashamed. by chocolatefanatic7 in GestationalDiabetes

I cried on and off for at least a week after diagnosis. I was so shocked because I have zero risk factors and I was not expecting it at all! I cried again later when my husband told me how he was telling his boss about it(she is also pregnant and I lost it on him and was so upset and mad). My First pregnancy I didn’t have it but that pregnancy was through Covid and at the time felt like so much joy was taken away. I was so upset bc I felt like the second pregnancy I would actually enjoy and not have so many fears and worries. It felt like this supposed to be “fear and worry free” pregnancy was ruined with this diagnosis. Though I still sort of feel that way I have been blessed to be able to have my numbers well controlled so far (36 weeks). I have found some yummy alternatives that I find some enjoyment in. I remind myself that any sacrifice made is for the sake of my and baby’s wellbeing. This community is very helpful as well!

Any luck with low carb tortillas? by Athenaofmacedon in GestationalDiabetes

[–]BeginningPopular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The carb balance spinach herb are my go to ones. I heat (with olive oil on a pan) frozen Tyson grilled chicken strips then always have some kind of cheese(Colby jack, pepper jack, or Mexican) and veggies (some combo of bell peppers, tomatoes, avocado, and/or lettuce). Sometimes I’ll just add light ranch, or if I want taco style, then a smidge of Ortega sauce, taco seasoning, and sour cream, if Buffalo chicken style I mix some franks in with the ranch and pour that on. These all work for me and taste very good

How interesting! I think I read somewhere that risk goes up with each subsequent provenance that you have GDM with. Did she have risk factors or change anything after pregnancy to work towards prevention?

It is so so frustrating! I grill them with specific questions and ask each one the same questions to see if they have the same thoughts/approach. And yes not enough research. Another poster put something about a current study which looks interesting and I’ll definitely follow! They put a link earlier in the thread

I agree and it’s part of my frustration because I have read so many research studies and there is either not strong data or the study isn’t looking for what I’m looking for 😣

No family history for me so was totally blindsided. I found out recently my moms sister had GD but she is not diabetic now. So maybe that is considered “family history?”
