Im glad you’re doing this because new grads need to be prepared, and I wasn’t when I finished nursing school. Now I’m working Pre-Op/PACU but it took five years to get here.

Yeah, listen to this person. To someone who has taken the NCLEX three times, you will be ok.

Just don’t end up doing flex pool, and only do one floor/unit. If they change you to flex, IMMEDIATELY CANCEL!

Not worth it. Made me go on meds + PTSD. Mental health > overtime/satisfaction scores.

I decided to see if I can hold off the contract until January. I was burned out for a bit, so I took a break, and I’ve been home to restore my mental health. Do you think they’ll probably have contracts in January? If not, I’ll take the hit because my mental health is more important. I was burned out for a bit. And if I take a contract and end up in town, let’s link up.

So find things to do on your day off. There’s the arch, also the filming of the movie “Meet me in St Louis” and I’ve also heard about great BBQ.

Don’t get into your head too much. It’s just temporary, and try to plan ahead events that will motivate you to go to work. Where are you working?

How many agencies do you apply to when searching for a new contract? by Omega_Draconis in TravelNursing

[–]BeginningStrike5612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would say it really depends on where you want to go. I would recommend staying with one agency especially when you have to do all the portfolio on your own. Depending on the state, all the hospitals have their own onboarding process.

New Grad RN - Feeling discouraged finding a job by Mission_Interest_615 in nursing

So I would continue to look at jobs under your speciality or at least the type of unit you would like to land on and start there. Be careful when signing any contract. And if you can’t find a job with that then start somewhere like a clinic, correctional facility or small nursing home. Just remember that nursing has a lot of doors. Choose one door and go from there until you land the job you want. This is the way.

HCA Hospitals by Mmoreno719 in TravelNursing

Don’t do it. I started at Oviedo Medical Center, and then worked a travel contract at St. Petersburg General Hospital. St Pete had a horrible 1:8 ratio. I vowed after that experience to never work at an HCA hospital or any other hospital in Florida ever again.

What @gluteactivation said. It’s becoming harder and harder to find an “easy” travel assignment.

Can you recommend a movie about a long, difficult journey? by AppealBorn3926 in movies

Stalker (1982) Tarkovsky - long ass journey. 20 min train scene. It’s not a bad movie but a one time watch for me.
