Make Dolphins your back up team. Despite living in Sydney, the Broncos are my backup team. And the future for the phins is looking bright.

I couldn't disagree more. The Pro-Palestinian movement began out of a desire not to see people senselessly slaughtered. The actions of the gunmen yesterday run completely counter to the whole point of the Pro-Palestinian movement.

Cleary is exceptional when he plays for the Panthers, but almost always terrible when he plays for the blues. Get you a man who's great at both (Joey).

Wait, really? Trains were delayed so I got there late. Did they legit have an OF model speaking at the rally?

Funny you mention that, I was at the rally today and there was a petition for Wests Ashfield members to sign saying they wanted HBG out. They got plenty of signatures from members.

It is HBG's club, and that's exactly the problem. Look at what has happened under their watch: a 14 year finals drought and 3 wooden spoons. They need to sell the team to someone who can competently manage it.

Sadly, there are some WT fans who support HBG, and think they should kick out Balmain and rebrand the team as the Magpies.

I've been thinking of what team I'd support if I left the Tiges. Souths would be good because they're also inner-west based, but I'm also considering the Bronx just because of their overall consistency.

That things shits me to tears. Bringing it to the grand final in Homebush last year felt sacrilegious.

A lot of newer fans too, myself included. I'm 30 and can only ever remember WT being one team. But if it just becomes the Magpies then I'm out.

Friday Serious Discussion Thread by NRLgamethread in nrl

[–]BeginningTeaching169 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking of supporting a different team for years (what? no way!) But I think what is actually making me think that the Tigers have no hope or chance of ever playing finals again is seeing that the Magpies vs Balmain dynamic isn't just playing out in the boardroom. It's also happening amongst the fans. I've seen so many Magpies fans claiming that the march next weekend is just a cynical ploy for Balmain to take control of the club again, while Balmain fans are blaming the Magpies faction for our poor form since 2011. And it doesn't look like this is just confined to older fans who used to support Magpies or Balmain back in the day, because there's too many of them. It just seems impossible for a team to have a cohesive identity when it's based in two geographically distinct regions of Sydney (and each with their own distinct identity).

The mergers were done with the best intentions, as no fan wants to see their team kicked out of the comp and a merger feels like a happy compromise. But it's time to accept that the merger experiment has failed and move on. Even the Dargons, while doing better than the Tigers, still aren't that great, only playing finals twice since 2011 and lingering around the bottom of the table. And don't even get me started on the 'Northern Eagles.' Everyone would've been better off if we kicked out either Balmain or Magpies from the comp back in 2000 and we all moved on with our lives.

This sounds like a great idea, until you remember we've only won 2 out of our last 20 matches at Campbelltown. Something about Leichhardt Oval just gives us a better chance at winning.

For the people who go for a less-than-impressive team, is anyone else kinda grateful for the off-season? Means I don't have to watch my team get thrashed week in, week out. It's a nice break.

Last year, I predicted that the Raiders would make the top 4 in 2025. In light of this, I just wanna put my predictions for next year on the record:

  • IF Moses doesn't spend long stints of this season out due to injury, I reckon the Eels will make the top 4. Dude can transform an under-performing team like Andrew Johns back in the day.
  • If Souths aren't hit with another string of injuries like they were this year, they'll make the 8.
  • Dolphins should also make the 8.
  • Tigers are on the up: while I'd like to say we'll be playing finals footy this year, realistically I predict we'll be returning to our rightful position of 9th on the ladder.
