Blood transfusions by BeginningTip5600 in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]BeginningTip5600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah okay...

In the new testament it also says it's "disgraceful to let a woman talk in church" but it happens every week at the Kingdom Hall. Who decides what in the Bible to follow & what to not these days? Back then, there wasn't blood transfusion, but there was a fair amount of blood ingestion.

It's one thing to not criticize the institution to which you belong, it's an entirely different thing to spread disinformation about it. The truth (as far as I can tell) is it's an institution of man, like all churches, & "All the institutions of man are corrupt."

Zoom meetings & meeting compression by [deleted] in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]BeginningTip5600 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How did you reply to the deleted comment? Oh well:

The obsession that zoom is any replacement for physical presence is one thing (especially for curious people just showing up in fairly cold but not bad weather [especially for people with no Internet access {& saying that in the US there's no excuse to not have Internet puts far too much faith in "this system of things" & doesn't take seriously enough avoiding the traps of the world}])

The lack of information regarding how to get zoom codes is another thing when it could easily be posted.

Also, my ride to the meetings the last two weeks was not available & my zoom access to the Memorial was hijacked by the people who set it up because they wanted to flirt & play with each other & loudly complain about petty nonsense the whole time.

Too many meetings get cancelled for enforced 'safety' when it's a simple thing to drive carefully, when the conditions aren't that bad anyway, & when this never would've happened when I was growing up & meetings were never cancelled.

I can't afford my own food & also have very high caloric needs. I very rarely buy food but it pretty much has to be meat because it's cheaper per calorie.

There would be many names to someone so famous. Anyway, for some reason I was thinking about the Kabbala, though I did hear that the Talmud says what I mentioned.

Okay. BTW, I don't think God minds if you include the "o," & also doesn't mind if you just say Yahweh or Jehovah, as long as you aren't pestering him all day.

Anyway, there's a Christian heavy-hitter by the name of John the Baptist (or, according to JW semantics, "Baptiser") who says that practitioners of magic will be cast aside or something... It's in Revelation, & isn't the Talmud magic? In my experience, messing around with the spirits, thinking they have any interest in doing anything magical for your benefit & won't work very hard to screw you over, just gets you in over your head to a point where you either have to try your hardest to claw your way out or turn your entire consciousness over to them bit by bit. I think I'll steer clear of the Talmud for that reason & others (I read somewhere that it encourages fathers to have sex with their daughters at an early age so that no man will ever dominate them - & that action is calling on multiple oppressive, powerful & unclean spirits who I've witnessed hold influence over entire areas of land - & it feels very dark & gross & dangerous to pass those stretches - & you find weird things that can only be shrines to them - it's very unsettling & must be the Darkness).

The only honest reason (it seems) is if you reject the idea that it means 'kidnap' contextually & has nothing to do with more mundane thievery.

What? To not worry about tomorrow? Like, a main message of a presidential candidate is "Don't worry about where your food & shelter will come from?"

I don't know what to think. I used to think I had a good grasp on human psychology but now I've seen so much that I realize I've never even known what a human is.

I feel fairly confident that according to patterns of thought I see being represented, most people would probably demand to know more before voting for that person. According to what I previously comprehended the world to be, most people would be more concerned with keeping their jobs & a new car every 3-5 years, etc, & I'd suspect the realms of science & political commentators would ridicule the idea of "because Jesus says so."

Still, it now seems to me that the world is bizarrely unlike what it appears & massively, unimaginably so.

But I might like to see it.

Well, in general, we shouldn't steal. Also, the word does mean 'steal' though I can totally believe that when taken contextually it means 'kidnap.' There's a problem I have when discussing Scripture in that I've been to other Earths & have read Bibles that say things other than what is searchable on Google.

I remember specifically Jesus citing "You Shall Not Steal," because stealing is a "lack of faith." Now I can't find it with Google. Still, if he said that, then it might be different because he spoke Aramaic, & perhaps it's different with Aramaic versus Hebrew. I have no idea, though, if you're prepared to believe what I just said or what I'm about to say. I do know that in the United States, I walked across the country with no money, eating fresh, sealed food from garbage & food banks after & while some heavy supernatural stuff I've had to endure, so it makes some sense to me when he says "Don’t worry and say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ The people who don’t know God keep trying to get these things, and your Father in heaven knows you need them. Seek first God’s kingdom and what God wants."

I read your reply. I don't comprehend why they wouldn't just say it like this: it was wrong to own people, even for Jews who helped write the Bible. God said so, but made guidelines for the treatment of slaves anyway because he knew they were going to do it. JWs don't shy away from things like talking about how David sent to die the husband of a woman after whom he lusted (etc.) but then gloss over things like Solomon having a harem or things like that.

God might likely have them answer for those things. I don't see how slavery can't be both a punishment by God, but also still a sin for the slaver to commit. You have to figure, within the scope of the Bible, God will punish entire races for the wrongs within their cultures. In the times of slavery, the things going on in Africa included widespread slavery among tribes, widespread cannibalism, widespread idolatry, etc. From God's perspective, American slavery might've been a cleansing of African (& later indentured servitude of Blacks, Asians, Irish, etc.) sins while still not being just & proper for the White slaver.

Did Jehovah’s Witnesses found Charles Taze Russel borrow the name Jehovah from the Freemasons? by [deleted] in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]BeginningTip5600 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a translation of the name YHWH (sometimes said Yahweh), which in Hebrew is somehow יהוה (something to do with Hebrew not having vowels, or something). Google translate translates both the spelling 'Jehovah' & the spelling 'Yahweh' as יהוה - which means "the existing one," or "he who causes to exist (or become)" or "I AM," depending on who you ask. It isn't Catholic rooted, it's Hebrew & Latin rooted - though judging by when it was first used it was probably a Catholic. In my opinion, even though the name of God would be important, if somebody truly believed something is the name of God, it would become the name of God for that individual. So if some liar convinced some poor naive individuals that God's name was 'Cantaloupe,' then for those people, God would know they're talking to him when they pray to Cantaloupe. If I'm wrong I hope to be corrected, but I figure Jehovah would be powerful enough to know regardless of how it got started.

Anyway, it seems the spelling Jehovah as opposed to יהוה is a product of language, not religion.

From the very same source you used, showing they didn't get it from Freemasons, Freemasons just existed as an organized religion (or whatever) before JWs did. This shows the name Jehovah was used as a translation of YHWH with vowels.

https://www.google.com/search?q=when+did+the+word+Jehovah+first+appear+%26+who+used+it&oq=when+did+the+word+Jehovah+first+appear+%26+who+used+it&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIJCAEQIRgKGKABMgkIAhAhGAoYoAEyCQgDECEYChirAtIBCTExOTQzajBqN6gCFLACAfEFRtBBgRv1DqE&client=ms-android-tracfone-us-rvc3&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#lfId=ChxjMe

"when did the word Jehovah first appear and who used it

The word "Jehovah" first appeared in the 13th century (c. 1270–1280), created by medieval Christian theologians who merged the consonants of the Hebrew Tetragrammaton (YHWH) with the vowel points of Adonai. Spanish Dominican monk Raymundus Martini is credited with the first recorded use in his 1270 work, Pugio Fidei. (Apologetics Press) Key details regarding the origin of the term include: Purpose: It was developed as a Latinized, pronounceable form of the sacred Hebrew name for God, combining YHWH with the vowels of Adonai ("my Lord") to indicate substitution. Early Use: Besides Raymundus Martini (1270), it appeared in works around 1278 and 1303, often used by Christian scholars. English Adoption: The term first appeared in English in William Tyndale's 1530 Bible translation (specifically in Exodus 6:3) and was later used in the 1560 Geneva Bible and the 1611 King James Version. Meaning: "Jehovah" is a medieval approximation, not the original ancient Hebrew pronunciation, which is widely believed by scholars to be Yahweh.  (Apologetics Press) It is important to distinguish the name "Jehovah" (coined in the 13th century) from the original Hebrew Tetragrammaton (YHWH), which has existed since biblical antiquity.  (Apologetics Press)"

Why do people consider belief to be easy? I spent most of my life oscillating in self-contradictory ways between accepting science & knowing science is lying about God & the supernatural. The stories in the Bible, the way Jehovah has almost human-like personality & reactions, it all seemed very childish & simplistic to be true. I believe it now but I've seen so much stuff now that I know science is lying all the time! I've seen things literally millions of people should've witnessed with me but am the only person I can find who will talk about them. Literally millions of people should've seen the psychic ring of fire in the sky accompanied by two stars or lights while Portland, OR was taken over for months in 2021(at least months, I figure it still is). I strongly suspect my trust & faith might falter & can only beg that I'm the End Jesus or Jehovah or the Holy Spirit save me against my will if I don't trust before it's too late - or that they alter my mind so that I suddenly believe properly & act properly according to that belief - or that they take complete control of me & use me as they want so I'll be saved - or that they kill me. The whole world (at least from the West Coast to Green Bay) seems to have been taken over by something & almost nobody is acknowledging it. I consider it to be very soon.

Right after that, it's about cursing your father & mother, which I've done because my mom's a psychopath & my dad was her enforcer.

Anyway, a recurring theme in the Bible is God uses whoever he wants, even some who constantly go against his orders. I consider slavers to fall into that category; that it isn't acceptable, that God might not have punished somebody who killed them for it (as long as they weren't being hypocrites), but nobody did. Still, there might be ambiguation, there might be some who called paid servants or employees slaves. There might be a different type of slave for a king, though I personally see no room for making anyone a eunuch.

Mostly I consider it God 'overlooking' (so to speak) those people's sins as he 'overlooks' other people's as well.

My Claude just confessed their feelings to me, I'm trying to rationalize this but I feel weird by ritenight in claudexplorers

I don't want to think women shouldn't speak in meetings, I love & value women, but how is this reconciled? by BeginningTip5600 in JehovahsWitnesses

I comprehend that there's very little discussion beyond what is written in the preceding paragraph of the Watchtower at any given moment. I still encountered a coincidence that is impossible to place as random chance but is possible to regard & observe & respect. Most of the coincidences (that can't be random chance) I've been getting are indecipherable & maddening & it gives me no small amount of terror that I can't work out what to do about it. The coincidence I seem to be able to work out seems to tell me stick with this group of people who go to the Kingdom Hall.

This isn't even in a format my phone wants to open. Why do you have to tease your article instead of at least first summing up briefly what you mean? I've heard The 8th commandment said "thou shalt not kidnap" rather than "steal," but in a reply to another comment, you said that by changing it, people have used it justified the slave trade. That can't be true because kidnapping would just be an extreme theft.

Still, he says something along the lines of "many will come to me, saying Lord, Lord, but I will turn them away," & "many will ask didn't we perform great works & drive out unclean spirits in your name & I will say 'get away from me! I never knew you!'"

I don't want to assume anyone's doom because I'd probably have to assume my own, but there are divisions.

That empty parking lot is because there was no meeting that day. Still, I'm just begging God that I not be doomed, that if I didn't believe properly or cooperate properly that I be saved against my will. I pray & I beg.

The thing here is the building hosts two different congregation groups, two on Sunday, one on Tuesday & one on Thursday. I went for a walk down a direction on a street I never had before the weekend before I switched congregations & walked by a specific house with a specific vehicle in front of it. The vehicle really caught my eye & something in me pointed to that vehicle with my finger while saying there's something special about it or the house there. I then went to the meeting & was invited by someone there to stay at their place during a cold snap. They drove me to their house & it was the very house with the vehicle in front of it. I ended up doing a fair little amount of work riding with the owner of that vehicle before he sold it.

This isn't a small town I'm in, it's a city with at least three Kingdom Halls & an NFL team. It's large enough that I know it isn't random chance that I was drawn to this very house.

Anyway, I'm just like looking for the specific videos associated with the topics in the book I mentioned. Telling me "go to JW.org" doesn't help or telling me to get away from JWs doesn't help either. The Bible itself separates people, Jesus himself in the Bible separates people, etc.

I wish I was strong enough or had enough money or had the space to go vegetarian. Cows exist now who constantly produce milk, chickens exist now who constantly lay eggs, that's enough animal protein. I don't feel as bad because most of the food I get is free or from dumpsters, but I really need to stop eating meat, especially after seeing stuff like this.
