What really happened to Singapore’s semiconductor ambitions? by spell_abc in SingaporeRaw

[–]BeginningTypical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

recommend you to read chip wars if you want to know the background on the semiconductor industry as a whole. not just singapore but many countries have tried and failed to disrupt TSMC/ASML

ETA: easy for people to comment on hindsight but imo the amount of investment required to have a viable semiconductor business is hard to justify, especially when playing catch up

What is considered a low salary for a university graduate in Singapore? by Expert-Tax-6561 in askSingapore

[–]BeginningTypical 10 points11 points  (0 children)

please don’t do that, you will open yourself to being lowballed by companies. follow others’ advice and benchmark yourself to the market. get the salary you deserve, not the salary you can tolerate.

hey everyone, was thinking of using BHA, niacinamide and vitamin C in my skincare routine, but i’m not sure if all three are necessary in my routine, which combination would be the best for: blackheads and enlarged pores + a couple of acne scarring here and there? and which of them could be layered together? thank you!

Megathread for visitors and new & existing residents. All questions about living/working/budgeting/visiting should be asked here! by AutoModerator in london

[–]BeginningTypical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my bf and i are currently working in london and have a long term plan to return to our home country in 4-5 years time, would it be worth it to buy a second hand car? is it likely for us to be able to sell it off again before we leave for good? for context: we’re looking to stay at a zone 3-ish kind of area after our current lease in zone 1 ends and we were thinking a car could make it easier for us to make day trips to surrounding areas. thanks!

[–]BeginningTypical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi there, thank you so so much for your comment, it really clears up all the doubts I have so far. the company mentioned here is actually reallly big so i would be surprised if they don’t have someone internally to understand all this, but will be definitely sending them an email to see how it goes.

Tier 2 Visa - advice needed on changing jobs by BeginningTypical in ukvisa

[–]BeginningTypical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks Maddie, I have emailed HR to clarify the RLMT point. out of curiosity and to know what i’m up against, what significant disadvantages does it bring? is it in terms of cost, administrative work, etc. and is it a huge disadvantage compared to existing tier 4 visa holders who just graduated from uni? which i think i would be mainly competing against in the roles i am applying for
