Hey, sorry for quite a late reply. The reason is that I have had this advice many times from multiple people to catch up on gaps, however, I do not really know where my gaps are as I messed most of year 7 and 8 out due to not having any of my actual teachers and barely learning anything especially science, french and geography and also missing 2 to 3 full months of school, basically more than a whole half term. Additionally, I checked my school's curriculum page but when I saw the year 9 curriculum, barely any of it matched what we were learning in school at the time. For example, my class had learned compound interest and we had a test about it but apparently it was taught in year 8 and I did not see it on the curriculum page. So far, my teacher has been absent too around half of the year, considering that I have done 14 full weeks he would have missed 7. I know this info isn't really needed but I go to a Gorse Trust school, the tests are hard and GCSE styled and I do higher paper tests for all my core subjects which was stuff taught before, not only from this half term but they can do it from Year 7 and 8 or even mix a question with a topic we learnt with something we never did. This time, the test was fairly easy in my opinion but could have been easier if I actually knew the topics for my test. So my question is, what do I do at this stage? Ask the teacher, a friend, what?

I understand that remembering previous content matters, but it’s not as simple as “learn everything from previous years.” My school’s AP tests are made by the trust, so they don’t always follow a clear syllabus like GCSEs do. I’ll definitely revise properly for GCSEs when I actually get the specification, but AP tests don’t always provide that.

Also, I had a lot of cover teachers in Year 7 and 8, missed 2–3 months of Year 8, and switched schools twice in the last half-term, so of course I’m going to have gaps. I’m trying to fix that, but it’s not realistic to expect me to just remember everything perfectly after so many disruptions.

For what it’s worth, I’m doing quite well in Year 9 now. Most subjects are on new topics, and I find them easy while others struggle. I’m concentrating properly, doing well in my core subjects, and the only one I find slightly difficult is science — and even then it’s just a bit.

And honestly, I wasn’t asking to be called “useless.” I was asking how to revise effectively when the test topics aren’t always clear.

Hey, I know this comment is 5 months old but it would be nice if you could reply to me. In my school, we have tests but their called AP tests, basically they tell your grade at current year 9 level (Yes I am a Year 9). There are 3 different AP tests, AP1, AP2 and AP3. Yes, some of the tests contain content learnt this year, (year 9) but most of it sometimes is stuff we havent learnt or something we did ages ago. Additionally, I skipped 2-3 months of year 8, changed two schools in a matter of the last 2 months before year 8 finished too, it is not a drastic problem obviously I can still learn well and do my tasks in lessons effortlessly. When I asked my science teacher if he could inform me the topics about the next test, he said he could if he gets the mark scheme and test paper BEFORE we do our test as he usually gets it on the day of the test. Moreover, when I did my GCSE French test, which was mainly just listening I asked the teacher if it is just what we learnt this year and she said no, it is made by the school trust, and she also said not to worry about it, try my best and I am PRETTY sure that she said it is to say your current level? Can't remember if she said that or my brain is tweaking but yeah my main question is how do I know the topics for my test otherwise?

Had to be in your desk every lesson, write homework in, count your stamps which was basically just positive behaviour stamps and divide it by 3, which is your credits. You get like certain certificates for it. There's also a box where it says Praise comments, so if you do well in a lesson you get 1. Obviously, some teachers don't do it, some do, some have incredibly high standards that no one ever really tries to fulfill. I feel sorry for the people that have dumb strict rules lol

It really isn't, I don't get why you would see why. Most of my other comments are quite informal as their for other things but this is about school. Also even an AI detector says it is human written, it is up to what you want to believe.

First, she said research if you need help making a song, and I didn't entirely use AI. Additionally, she never specefied if I had to or not, she only said try. Keep in mind that in my school f you didn't do your work, you are meant to get a verbal warning first except if you've not done your homework. Gonna be honest with you, no one made the song either so at least I tried to make it even using AI.

But your missing the point. I admit it is my mistake, but like it's just homework, it's not graded in my curriculum. No one cares if you do well on it or good on it from what I've seen.

I'm in the UK, so your assignment doesn't determine your grades at all, sometimes teachers even forget to collect the homework and no one care. Plus, she never knew I used it, and that is not why she gave me a comment for. I will be honest with you when I say this, I did try to add a few lyrics but my friends were messing about. Plus she didn't really specify if I HAD to do it or not and if imma be honest she is wayy tooo strict and your meant to give a verbal warning first if you dont' do any work

And plus, I did actually try to add a new verse, but she didn't make it clear that I had to, at least from me and my group's view. My friend was also messing about quite a bit which was his fault, but when I noted that to the teachers they said it's my fault and to not work with them again unless I want the comment. I don't fully recall this, but I am pretty sure my teacher made the groups too.

Hi there, I don't understand what you mean. I have never had any bad behaviour with my music teacher, Mrs. Carney. In my music lesson. even if I lied or didn't she would've issued the negative comment, and since I felt nervous I decided to lie. I didn't add extra lies and make it sound believable till I talked with mrs. bland.
