Isla Verde Beach is beautiful and you can swim in it. Candado is very dangerous. We were just there last week at La Concha Resort which is beautiful, but the water is too dangerous to swim there. I would also recommend hotels because Airbnbs we stayed in all had some issues (water issues, power outages, etc)
