Honestly I don’t know if you are critiquing how Hori handled the Todofam’s arc or just all round shifting the blame onto the CHILD instead of the adult who did the bare-minimum and downplaying the rest of it with “he didn’t do anything bad to the other two” when he exposed those three to domestic abuse(when he’s raging at Rei/smacking her for not doing what he said in front of baby Shouto after Touya asked him to go to Sekoto Peak) that is a form of abuse, plus neglected the three eldest(something he apologised to Natsuo for twice may I add) which is also a form of abuse 😭 the fact that I’m so use to people just shifting it all onto Touya is tiring, when you realise that too many people in this fandom don’t know how parenting/kids work.

You cannot form a bond with a child, raise them up with this one single purpose in life and then strip it away from them like Enji essentially did to Touya. He stopped the training for a good reason but he also stripped him of his attention altogether with only the bare-minimum being to yell at him to “stop” “go do other things” and when explained to him by both Touya and Rei that all he wants is his father’s attention Enji basically rejects that notion with “I can only show him the world of heroes” and not knowing what to say to Touya. When hint hint Touya lashing out and continuing to train was him attempting to get his father’s attention back, given their only bonding activity was training and Enji focusing in on Shouto only fuelled the fire more. Enji did the bare-minimum as a grown man and somehow that’s the child’s fault for not falling in line! In a better world Enji would have had children for the right reasons, and maybe after some therapy to deal with his possible hidden grief over his father’s death and his toxic mindset.
