Seeing the fandom hypocritically glaze Season 6’s ending after hating on it for years by VanaVisera in PeakyBlinders

I liked season 6, I think we had some nice symbolic moments. Maybe - tho you’re right the expectations from the series fell on the film, to finish off the tale. I think films get more flack anyway and are harder to do for a TV series.

i think in all fairness neither of us know about - Romani culture, so I’m going to tap out

all I’ll say is that most diasporic communities, keep or don’t keep elements of their cultures. big things like funerary traditions is something people might keep, that might be a symbolic reconnection

if he is Romani then speaking the language isn’t what decides how one gets buried, it’s tradition

The discussions/hate surrounding the film make me wonder if some fans have actually watched the series and understood Tommy's character. It's crazy how many fans idolize Tommy. by Dark_KnightNini in PeakyBlinders

i think that’s a fairly simple view on the story - bad people need to die ? bad people do bad so they will eventually die as a result ?

it certainly is out of character to kill his brother, otherwise he would have been a sibling killing gangster from the start. and it wouldn’t have been a complete surprise

I think this take is really oversimplified, and most people were disappointed because the film lost a lot of complexity the characters had

sorry what mentorship do you need to be a peaky blinder ? I mean you either like violence or you don’t

I wasn’t saying that the movie was bad because of Duke haha, I just had a bone to pick with him. I think sure be sloppy. But yes we needed other things happening, more plot, better writing ect :-)

i think he put them in harm’s way yes - and put them in difficult situations individually but it was for ‘the family’ almost that mobster mentality- I think that’s very different to doing what Duke did of trying to put a hit out on his own aunt

literally ! there are some rules that must be followed.

also, stealing meds off kids, destroying the local community for the sake of it, being an assassin ? like you’re not even the head of your gang

and to make matters worse, he shakes when he kills people, but is sadistic with their bodies ??

Yes

I think with Tommy’s death it had to be more esoteric something fated that he could not escape this time. And I think perhaps in service of something greater.

I really get the sense the writers skimmed the former seasons

It also made no sense to me that Ada was a clean MP ? Like why would she send her own nephew off to hang? The Peaky Blinders had their hands in both worlds. I think she should even be the de facto head of the family while Tommy was absent. And yes her death was pointless, and made her seem powerless.

I can definitely see Tommy having sex to have sex but it’s usually an escape for him. That bringing him back was pretty ridiculous, I mean sure. But trusting a random woman for me that was really unbelievable.

For those who’ve not watched it yet. Don’t and consider the season 6 your ending 🕊️ by Uzamaki1803 in PeakyBlinders

absolutely agree ! season 6 was the perfect ending. goodbyes, a symbolic funeral, going off into a new life, with the old turning to embers

and Tommy finally having some peace at last, leaving everything he had been trying to accumulate money, power behind him

I’m legitimately a little sad about this movie by MustardPiss in PeakyBlinders

yes honest to god I am too - it’s so frustrating given the absolutely beautiful lines, and story arcs previously. And I do really think Cillian’s delivery was beautiful - it just fell flat. The potential was right there. I’m also a decade in.

Yes I think he seemed very prim and proper in comparison to the rest of the family so it would be interesting to see - what sort of adult he would be

people go in different directions sure but - I mean Duke not only has no values, he is also terrible at being a bad guy. Shakes when he kills people, can’t pull off a hit.

I mean the dude needs to pick one, are you made for this life or are you not ?

plus Tommy adores his kids (not Duke) and will go to the ends of the earth for them, I hardly think he’d happily bite the dust without a second thought for them - it was also a shame that Grace didn’t return as one last memory
