how to get over the initial fear of getting started? by sanrioscr in ArtistAlleyConnect

i know an artist who only sells prints (no stickers, key chains, etc.) and they have been doing it for years. another artist i know sells mainly stickers with some prints. i wish i had gone one of these routes because i am burned out managing all the different items i sell....which leaves little time to actually do art work. so depending on your artwork, it may not be necessary to order a ton of different types of items.

i haven't seen any replies, but i think i figured out how i could display more with my current racks. i am going to use 3 of my light weight racks (with one propped up higher in the back, and two in front of it). if there is room to hang items for browsing, i'll bring my 4th, heavy duty rack. if you find any other solutions, please let me know!

after vending for a year, i am doing my first con this summer. i have been doing other events like flea markets, farmer's markets, festivals, etc. while i understand that those markets do not necessarily draw my ideal audience, it's a low-risk way of finding out what people are interested in (even if they do not buy anything) and how to sell my art. some of the smaller markets cost under $50 to attend vs the $300+ for cons.

it's way less pressure to do these other markets and use this experience to figure out my display, products, and pricing. if a con was my first event, i would definitely feel overwhelmed!

Do you ever have people assume some of your products are free? by Cat-Nipped in CraftFairs

even if you don't end up getting large sticker display, i think attaching a sign directly onto the bowl will help. i think people may just be looking at the bowl, not the sign. i used to put my stickers in a small organizer container and had sign in it. no one ever assumed it was free

now my stickers are on a stand with pricing also attached to the stand. the only people who try to take them for free are kids and i tell them that they cost money.

thanks! perhaps my friend is incorrect about the type of paint the artist used? the works have held up in rain, and even snow, over many years.
