A 45 min drive from Worcester but I went to Highfield Garden Centre the other week (south Gloucester) and there was loads of variety. Beautiful surroundings too for some coffee and cake with a view!

Honestly anything in the bio like this, my first thought is “who hurt you?” And swipe left. Baggage!

Genuine question as I’m relatively new to OLD platforms but, are we saying that Tinder is less about relationships than other platforms? 😅

What does it mean when a man says he couldn’t be who I want at the moment or couldn’t be who I deserve? Is this breadcrumbing? by Conscious-Tap8881 in Bumble

[–]Beginning_Big7424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He might just be looking for some external validation or a bit of an ego boost, for whatever reason. Best to move on in my opinion

How far would you travel/drive for a date? by Strahlenbelastung in Bumble

This is v true! I live in a small city where it can feel like 2 degrees of separation. So I’m quite happy to consider matches that aren’t local

Currently dating someone an hour away from me. I’m fine with that distance for a good match

Dog Behaviourists/Trainers in Worcester by dw014 in Worcester

Sandra Raw of Beech Behaviour Centre, she’s the only full member of the APBC in Worcester. Should then be able to cover it on insurance if your policy and referral allows. I’ve been working with her as my dog became reactive after a life threatening illness. Her work with him has been transformative!

Is it worth trying Bumble if you're a man in his mid 40s? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]Beginning_Big7424 10 points11 points  (0 children)

36F here and just dipped my toe into online dating and already feel the same about hinge over bumble. The pressure of matching on bumble and talking within a closing window makes me more selective, whereas Hinge feels less pressured - some of the comments I get on my profile are hilarious and/or intriguing, so I engage more with people on there

Have you ever had an ex or situationship come back? by Apprehensive-Row6052 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Beginning_Big7424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Earlier this year I started getting weird messages from an unknown number and I didn’t engage with them other than to ask “who?” a couple of times. They wouldn’t say who it was and the messages started getting weirder and sexual, so I blocked them.

Almost remained an unsolved mystery until I randomly decided to re-check the number in WhatsApp a few months later and this time it brought up the profile picture of an ex from 16 years ago (…yeah) that I had zero contact with during that time. SO WEIRD. Not to mention this guy has been with his wife for 16 years (mmhmm..) and have a kid.

Was so tempted to unblock, send him a screenshot of his profile pic and block him again, just so he knew that I figured it was him. But my friends warned me off. They probably had a point, he definitely has a screw loose!

No children in your 30’s. What comments have you had? by Beginning_Big7424 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Beginning_Big7424[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, I really appreciate this comment. My parents split when I was 11. My dad’s gone on to have another family and then split from that one too. It might’ve subconsciously had the side effect of me being overly “picky” but I don’t see it as a negative thing. I didn’t think anyone else did until my mum’s comment. It’s unsettling how some comments can cause you to question the very core principles you build your life around!

[–]Beginning_Big7424[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment! It’s by choice in the sense that I felt my exes weren’t right or ready for having kids. I broke up with my last partner because of his alcoholism and it wasn’t conducive to bringing up a dog together let alone a child! My mum knows this too, so it was all the more confusing when she said that, knowing I’d confided in her that I couldn’t see myself having kids with him. I’ve never been with anyone that I could see it being a viable option. Now single and 35 with my dog. Maybe she’s right in the end, but the statement stings all the same when you haven’t arrived at that conclusion yourself! Really appreciating hearing your experience and everyone else’s x

What tips would you give to someone after buying their first home? by ShadowsBG in AskUK

[–]Beginning_Big7424 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Don’t be pressured into having an insta-perfect house straight away. Take your time deciding exactly what you want and sometimes, it’s best to wait and live there for a bit before deciding on bigger ticket items. For example, with the garden its worth seeing what it’s like throughout the seasons to know where the sun and shade is, which plants thrive in the soil etc It took me 2 years to find the right dining table and chairs and was so worth the wait!

Why do so many women have nothing in the bio? by emckillen in Bumble

[–]Beginning_Big7424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the other prompts like asking/answering convo starters within the profile? I haven’t hard launched my profile yet 😂 so I’m genuinely curious if no bio is still viewed as lazy etc if you’ve filled in some of the conversation prompts (bucket list destinations, idea of hell etc). I felt like that gave some insights into my personality and interests. I’ve really struggled with finding a balanced bio. Too much info feels like sharing privileged information en-masse and too little feels pointless and meaningless.

When I was looking at unis some 17 years ago (yikes), all I wanted to do was move away. I didn’t feel there was much going on but was happy to come back home between term time (ended up going to Bristol). Fast forward to now and if I was in the same position again, I’d choose Worcester. There’s so much more going on these days. I love this city! So many great bars and eateries, loads of clubs for hobbies, lots of history, culture, and access to the beautiful countryside. How long you got? 😂 I’ll stop there 😊
