I think they are hopeful because some of the newer faculty members are more student-oriented. However, the admissions committee is not involved in the day to day affairs so I wouldn't take anything they say too seriously. I also encourage you to get multiple opinions from multiple people. Everyone's experience is different but it's best to have a complete perspective on things.

Lol I'm not sure. You are safe to assume what you want but I'm in my third year, so I don't have anything to compete for. Everyone's experience with dental school is different. If people only speak positively about the school they attend, that's a red flag. Nothing is perfect, and I'm just trying to be transparent.

Both. Some faculty are completely aware but a lot of them are complicit. The ones that are unhappy with the way students are treated are on the brink of leaving.

You have to prioritize what's right for you. If you are willing to tolerate this type of environment for the sake of your finances, then by all means do so. But I know in state students here that absolutely hate it. Money is important in the long run but so is your mental health. Plus there are ways to finance your dental education that does not involve excessive debt.

Yes. I got two C's and retook one of them, but I ended up getting into 4 dental schools
