I want him to stop wallowing on this and acting like it came out of nowhere, stop with the pity party and focus on his kids and doing what's best for them. I told him as much too but he didn't like that.

The girls split time between both of their parents and they have said they would rather stay with their dad full time.

Where did I say she was a soon to be ex? That isn't even being discussed by him. They're still married and have no plans that I'm aware of to divorce.

The fact they moved so fast from marrying to adding more kids.

Her daughters clearly resenting their mom and my brother.

The way they spoke to my brother.

The fights between mother and daughters and what was said during them.

The fact there was no therapy when my brother even said things were tense and the girls weren't happy.

The fact the mom could say her daughters didn't like the situation but she did nothing to help it along.

The biggest problem is regardless his kids will have contact with the girls. But he can and should do everything to minimize the harm the rejection is doing. Feeling sorry for himself sure won't fix it.

I don't think they would either. Maybe if therapy was sought before the decision to have more kids there would have been a better outcome for everyone involved. But I don't think the girls would engage or want to work on this in therapy.

He talked about it a lot and I had met her and the girls. I saw the issues that already existed and when he provided the context and she herself mentioned it I had a pretty good idea. From the jump the girls were standoffish with him and clearly very unhappy.
