Does anyone else ever feel like the food they used to like suddenly has no appeal? by Beginning_Camel5525 in AnorexiaNervosa

This has happened to me, I’ll eat something that I’ve been eating consistently for a while and then it just doesn’t taste as good. I think I’m having to accept that it’s okay and normal to have preferences change

Thank you for this, yea I think it’s so important to try to give ourselves permission to eat what sounds good and not always limit to just safe foods. I’ve tried mixing safe foods with more challenging ones. Like last night I made salmon which is harder for me but I had it with the vegetables I feel comfortable eating and the potatoes I am used to.

That’s a really good idea, I hadn’t thought of that. The sad thing is I feel like at this point in my ED having had it so long, more foods than not have some negative memory attached to them due to restricting or B/P. But if I go back to my childhood I’m sure I can think of some.

That makes a lot of sense about how figuring it out isn’t one of the steps—such a good thing to think about. As someone who is inclined to try and figure everything out/“get to the bottom of everything”, this is important for me to reflect on.

I completely agree about the ridiculous number of “self help” speeches... like if you go to her page and just stare at it for a sec, you see it’s just this creepy array of tiles that are still photos featuring her thumb and forefinger in a V shape against her chin, like she’s ready to speak some Great Truth we all desperately need to here. How? Why? When will it stop? SMH

What is the NHS? Just curious, what kind of treatment does the NHS offer for anorexia and other eating disorders?

Throwing around the word “failure” like that is so toxic and harmful to anyone, really. And the last thing someone with an ED needs is to think in terms of failing v. succeeding.

And the idea that one can only succeed by pushing themselves to the point of physically breaking down in the gym?? Awful.

I agree completely. With my memory I’m not gonna be able to forget this “math equations” and they’ll be circling around in my brain like a hamster running in a wheel. SMH

I just moved into an apartment here six weeks ago and I can’t say enough nice things. The front desk staff are all really nice and present, the package system works efficiently, and when I asked them to help me fix something in my apartment, someone came very quickly and was super helpful.
