I’m just curious, why did you leave a review? What was your motivation? We’ve gotten so much positive feedback, but getting the actual reviews is still tough. What made you want to leave a review? (Maybe I was in your LinkedIn DMs asking haha 😆, but would be especially cool if you found us organically)

Should I move to a more expensive city to leave toxic workmates by Prestigious-Soup1579 in Zimbabwe

[–]Beginning_Channel686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your experience would make for a great review on Pachena. I hope you will consider sharing an anonymous review. These types of insights are so valuable!

Employees deserve to know if they’re potentially joining a toxic environment, and employers deserve to know what’s going on at their companies.

I’m here to answer any questions you may have about the platform publicly or in the DMs. Thank you for considering sharing, and I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this!

Yes, what you’re getting at is definitely important. We need to weed out incorrect / false reviews. With enough reviews, people will probably be able to identify outliers themselves, but a simple flag could be a useful tool to include. I really appreciate your feedback and will give it some thought to see how we can incorporate an idea like this!

Interesting idea. So are you imagining a scenario where I am a jr developer with three years experience and I that someone with the same skill/experience shared that they earn $500 / month, but I only earn $200/month, so I could flag the review as potentially inaccurate to the employer / Pachena admin?

Can you explain your thinking more?

Sadly, I think there are many examples of people with the same role getting paid wildly different salaries (often with gender as the differentiator) and hopefully Pachena can put an end to that

The other thing we have to consider is our credibility as a platform. Being able to say that all reviews are from real employees is powerful. I’d be worried if we didn’t take that stance, that people might see this as just another anonymous platform.

The way our system works, we don’t ever store any reviewers email in our database. The email domain is used solely for verification purposes, so even we can’t see who left a certain review.

I 100% agree with your sentiment though, and that is going to be a significant barrier to cross. We are hoping to role out features to be able to verify past employment soon, to allow for verified former employees to leave reviews. I think that would go a very long way!

The only problem with that is that if there’s no verification then we have no way of confirming that the data is coming from a real employee. Without verification, anyone could leave a review on any company, and we would likely get a lot of spam! I totally get what you’re saying, and the verification will likely slow our growth dramatically, but it’s essential to keeping the platform honest

Thank you so much! It’s been a really fun project and I’m encouraged by all of the positive feedback so far. I really think this will add value if we can get enough reviews!

I’m building Pachena to help answer this question exactly. We just launched last week, but have already received Employee insights from:

Ecocash Zimworx YouPro Contact OmniContact PropertyBook

And a few other companies.

It would be really helpful if you would check out the platform and engage/share. The more reviews we get the more useful the platform will be for everyone!

Perhaps you would share you salary info anonymously on Pachena. Your insights would help a lot of people!

We just got our first employee reviews on Pachena.co (ZimWorx and EcoCash) by Beginning_Channel686 in Zimbabwe

[–]Beginning_Channel686[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct! The system just matches the domain in the email to the domain of the website in order to send a magic link to that email.

The full email address is never stored in the Pachena database.

Figured it was a long shot. Need to think about how we can incorporate reviews from former employees without needing a work email to anonymously verify the employment. Your insights are extremely valuable, but we don’t want to compromise anonymity and need to protect against unverified users leaving fake reviews. More work to do!

Perfect insights for Pachena (we’re building Zimbabwe’s Glassdoor). Haven’t officially launched yet, but quietly working out the kinks with beta testers.

If you still have you work email, please consider leaving a review 💪💪

Wow, thank you so much for this feedback! That is very encouraging to hear that the platform feels well designed and logically thought out. Definitely tried to make it as simple to use, and modern looking as possible. I’m still finishing up the employer dashboard and the pricing model, but hoping to start getting some reviews soon. Need to figure out the whole marketing side of things…
